Celebrations different countries from around the world celebrate
L.I: To develop and understanding of different elements of Matariki.
I learnt more about the different celebrations countries celebrate from around the world while researching
to chose which I decided to show and talk about in my google slide.
I researched some popular celebrations from around the world and chose only chose a few to talk about. Some of the celebrations I already knew I thought it would be good to talk about because I knew a lot about it. I also inserted some photos to show a little bit of what it looks like when it is celebrated.
Protractor Measurements
L.I: To learn how to measure different fractions using a protractor to find the angles and degrees.
I learnt how to use a protractor and how to use it to measure fractions and find the angles or degrees of them.
We paired/grouped up with someone from the opposite maths groups as us and created a google slide. On the google slide, we showed the different types of fractions being measured with a protractor and there answers. We labeled the proper names to call the measurements and some showed how the results answered as what they were. My group and I added pictures of how we measured the fractions. My partners were Sandra and Sakina which they were very helpful and knew what they were doing.
Newspaper Front Cover Report - Danny The Champion Of The World
L.I: To interact and comprehend a range of narrative texts.
I learnt to design and create a front page of an article/news paper using an event from the book - Danny The Champion Of The World - and adding extra things in for more detail and for it to also look nice.
From reading many chapters in the book - Danny The Champion Of The World - I chose one featured event that would be good to use for my front page article/news paper. I added a small game of word search in the corner which is actually playable, I've hidden and listed all of the words, and also a picture of what Danny looks like. The event I chose was when his father went poaching after years and it goes terribly wrong and made up a name of the newspaper series to make it more realistic.

10 Words that describes Danny
L.I: To interact and comprehend a range of narrative texts.
I learnt to describe a character from a book by the way he acts and maybe looks using only 1 word.
For this task I chose to describe Danny, the main character in the book - Danny Champion Of The World - and give my 10 opinions on how I think can describe Danny enough for you to know how he is like. I inserted a photo of Danny so you know what he looks like and pointed out the describing words.

Piece & System - BRAIN
LI:To use BRAIN acronym to identify possible changes to a technology piece or system. I learnt that BRAIN stands for B-Benefits, R-Risks,A-Alternatives,I-Initiatives,N-next or nothing. I learnt this by using a google slide and writing the B-R-A-I-N- of 2 systems and 1 piece.
Measurement Of Time
L.I: To learn how to measure time.
For this I learnt how to measure and add up time using a stopwatch timer and also how long it takes for my group and I to get from one end to another. My maths group and I all took 1 go at running one end to another from in the hall while timing how fast it takes you. Then we ran the netball court and also the field. We wrote down everyone's times on a google spreadsheet then we added all the times it took for each of us for each and everyone subject.

Narrative Commenting
L.I: To buddy conference to start edit and check writing.
I learnt to post comments about my opinions/advice/suggestions on others work in this occasion, others narrative. I learnt this by partnering with a person in my group and reading through their narrative to check if I can comment on anything that I think can be fixed or maybe better. My partner commented on my narrative also and gave me their suggestions, advice and questions. Here I show my comments and what I commented on and their comments and what they commented on. (The first 3 are mine)

About Roald Dahl
L.I: To interact and comprehend a range of narrative texts.
I learnt a variety of different things about Roald Dahl throughout finding information for the task.
In pairs, we googled different and certain information about Roald Dahl. We made a google draw an posted 2 pictures of Roald Dahl to show what he looked like and attributed them both. We also posted the book that we are currently reading of his and a link that takes you to information about the book.

Narrative - Orientation
L.I: To write an exciting hook
I learnt to write an exciting hook using detail or onomatopoeia.
For the starting of my story I used a onomatopoeia which is like a sound effect, for example - Bang! Boom! Pow! I took small pieces of the starting event of my story plan and added it in. I added a little more information on to it and a little detail.
10 Words I Don’t Know
L.I: To interact and comprehend a range of narrative text.
I learnt the 5 definitions of some of the 10 words that I didn’t know before, from the book Danny The Champion Of The World.
I read through the book - Danny The Champion Of The World and stumbled across 10 words I didn’t know the meaning of. Then I listed them down on a google draw and researched the meaning of 5 of them.

Liquid Volume - Measurements
L.I: To measure liquid volume.
I learnt to measure the amount of liquid in a bottle/box using millilitres and litres and how to get the amount of milliliters if you're in Litres or the amount of litres if you're in milliliters.
I found 4 images that we’re labeled for reuse and inserted them onto a google draw. The bottle/box had to show the amount of liquid inside so we could calculate the amount it would be. If you had Litres it would be calculated into millimetres by dividing 1000, and milliliters calculated into litres would be multiplying 1000. I did the attribution to the pictures and explained how the answers equaled to what they were.

Compare Contrast - Piece & System
L.I: To identify the differences and the same between a piece of technology and a technological system.
I learnt to give information about the difference of a system and piece of technology by talking about what it does or has and what they both have in common. A piece is something that isn’t moved without you doing it, and a system is used with a power or has to be connected to power to work.
My partner and I picked 2 objects in the classroom, one system and one piece. Our system was a fan and our piece was a window. We put what the differences and the same on a compare and contrast template. One of the obvious things that are the same between them both is that they both project air. Just for example I placed a picture of the things to give you the image what kind of fan and windows we’re talking about.

Technological Systems & Pieces
L.I: To define a piece of technology and a technological system.
I learnt the differences between a piece technology and a technological system and what they mean.
We got into pairs and sorted out the pictures from on a google doc onto 2 separate google draws. They were either a piece of technology or a technological system. Then we wrote our own definitions in the box from at the bottom of the google draw. A piece of technology is something that can’t be moved unless you move it and doesn’t need any power, and a technological system is something that doesn’t work unless it has power or
uses/has a plug.

Raz Kids - Inventions
Today I read the book - Inventions from Raz Kids.
It's all about the different inventions they made in past life and why it was made, and the different inventions that are made now. Inventions is considering the different foods, objects and technology. The book was interesting and I learnt about some invention I haven't heard of. This is definitely recommended for those who have a Raz Kids account and are interested into inventions, experiments and learning how technology is made
Narrative Plan
L.I: To plan a narrative.
I learnt to plan a narrative by filling in the information for the main parts of it. The
title, Orientation which is basically the introduction which includes - When it takes place,
The characters, and The setting. Then there is the problem, The events, and solution.
We first filled in the Title and orientation. We could add more of our own ideas to the orientation
but still include the ideas that were originally placed there. We made 3 titles and chose the one we
thought was the best. We added more information about the problem and more information about the solution. We filled in the events from beginning to end.
Finding and measuring the volume
L.I: To find and measure the volume.
I learnt the way to measure the volume and what volume is. Volume is the whole of an object
and can be the amount of squares inside the space in the object. To find the volume you measure
the width, height, depth then multiply them all together.
We found 4 rectangular objects in the class room and measured them by the width, depth, and height. We took a picture of the object, wrote the equation and showed our figuring out.

Times Table & Area
L.I: Identify the area of a rectangle and to measure it.
I learnt about the meaning of area and how to measure it in the fastest way. Area means the squares inside a shape, in this case a rectangle. The fastest way to measure it is by using times tables. Count the amount of squares on the side and the amount of squares on the top row then times the 2.
We got a piece of the class pixel paper and made differents sizes of rectangles and squares. Then we named them a, b, c, d, e,...and etc. We glued the sheet of paper in our maths books and answered their areas below it using the times tables method. To know which equation we were answering, we name it the Letter it was put as. For example I made the square/rectangle and counted the boxes from the top and the side then put a “x” between to show that it was multiplying both the numbers when I answered the equation.
Raz Kids - Anansi and the Talking Watermelon
Today I read the book - Anansi and the Talking Watermelon
on a reading site called Raz Kids.
This book is about an ant named Anansi
who once got stuck in watermelon. He tricked his friends into thinking
the watermelon could talk, but it was just him inside of it. They went along to show the king but he wasn't impressed
because Anansi took a while to respond and insulted the king by calling him a fool for thinking he wouldn't respond, so king bear roared and threw the watermelon.
The watermelon broke, and Anansi was free once again.
Narrative Planning
L.I: To plan a narrative.
I learnt to plan a narrative and also the when describing
the characters using personality and about specific facial
features.
Just for now we starting off only filling in the orientation, which is the title, setting, when, and the characters. We got a full planning google draw and either added characters but including Jack, Jill and the monster or add a setting or a when. We first made up 3 titles and chose the one we thought was the best. My characters were Jack, Jill, Aunt Lucinda, Cat, Monster, and Evil Minions. The underlined title is the one I chose to be for my official story.
Point of view & Making Connection
L.I: To make connections and synthesis.
I learnt the 3 connections. Text to self, Text to text, and Text to world. Text to self means making a connection from what happened in the text, to a experience you might have had related to it. Text to text means making connections from what happened in the text to something similar that happened in text from a different book. Text to world means making connections with the book by comparing what happened in the text with something that is happening in the world.
For Making Connections, we chose a story and tried to make connections to it. We had to first put the information the information we were relating to to the top box and put our connection to the bottom box. For my choice of book I chose - The Duel Inventors Awaken. For the Point Of View Chart, we chose between 1 or 4 characters from a story and wrote their points of view and if it changed or not? I Chose the movie Lorax and the characters I picked were the Once-Ler, Animals, Ted, and the Lorax.
