LS1 Minute To Win It Mini Olympic Activity Recap
This week for inquiry we have been doing some more different minute to win it activities from last week. This time the teams had to create a D.L.O that recaps about all the activities we did. So far we have created a team emblem, team name, and team motto but there is more to do. In our team there is - Victoria (Me), Sakina, Farzana, Chris, and Jordan. The recaps had to include - what the activity was, how to play them, and our take on it. My group and I decide to create a google slide because we thought in this case it would be best. When travelling around to the different activities, we had to have 2 Chromebooks with us. One of the Chromebooks were for timing and the other was to record and take photos to put into the D.L.O. My team (ABAN) only played 5 activities. The first minute to win it activity that we played was magic carpet ride which was held in the hall. Then the rest of the activities were in the classroom, those minute to win it activities were - Clipper, Bit Dicey, Stack Attack, and Rapid Fire. We provide all the included information for each activity. Personally I enjoyed the stack attack and bit dicey minute to win it activities the best.
Kiwi Sport (Softball)
Today LS1 had kiwi sport on the field with coach Alison. First we played a game of Scatter ball. We first had to get into pairs. Each partner had to get into one of the lines opposite to their partner. Then Alison chose which line/team would be fielding and batting. I was line who was batting up first. The ball was pitched to us by Alison. We had to use our knowledge from all the other softball sessions about how to do the right batting stance/position. One person at a time went from in the line so everyone got to bat. Since everyone got a partner and the amount of students were equal, every time one person hit the ball one person would get it and put it back on the cone then sit down because they already had a turn to field. The person who batted, ran to all the bases and came to home base and sat back down even if the ball was already back to home. This carried on to the last person in the batting team, then the rolls were switched over. In the end we played a few rounds of 4 corners, but in this case it was 4 bases. Alison closed her eyes and counted up to 5. Everyone had to go to a base and when she counted up to 5 she had to pick one base that she found was the nosiest then open her eyes. Who ever was on that base had to sit out and the game carried on with everyone else. I was very happy to win one of the rounds of this game. We had a few rounds of this and then the rules changed. We had to act as our favourite animal. Mine was a Wolf/Dog then for the second I was a chicken, and lastly I was a bunny. Finally the class came back and talked about what we did and etc.

Kiwi Can
Today LS1 had kiwi can in room 7 with the kiwi can leaders - Mr Matt and Miss Lily. Our topic is positive relationships and our theme is leadership. Today we were talking about Conflict Resolution. This means problem solving. We had to get into 4 lines. The first game we would be playing today was 21. We have played this activity before in kiwi can. You have to get into a circle and pass the ball around counting up to 21. Whoever was holding the ball at 21 was out and the rest carried on and the rules stood the same. Some boys held the ball for too long so we could only hold the ball for 2 seconds. Then we came back into our 4 lines. We talked about conflict resolution and what it means. After that we played a new game, we played guess the emotion. The 4 people at the back from each of the different lines had to stand up and face there team. On the whiteboard, Mr Matt wrote a emotion for the rest of the team to act at and the person standing up had to guess. They were not able to look at the whiteboard because that would be cheating. Every time the person got it write Mr Matt would write down the team points. We were labelled as the order we were in - line 1, line 2 and etc. Everyone in the team got a go. My emotion was shock. My team acted it out very well and I was able to earn a point for my team because I guessed it very well. Lastly we came back into our 4 lines and talked about what we did and the different emotions. Like always we had G.K.Q (General Knowledge Questions). The buzzer was " hello". One team at a time went. Just before heading off back to class, the kiwi can leaders gave a score out of 5 for - Teamwork, Encouragement, Positive Attitude, Participation, Respect. In the end our total score was 17, we need a little working on with everything.
Self-Monitoring (Article) : Adam Hall wins gold at Paralympic Winter Games
L.I: To monitor our understanding of a text.
This week for reading we had to get into pairs with a person from a different reading group. My partner was Charlize. We had to read an article called - Adam Hall wins gold at Paralympic Winter Games. We had to take note of all the different words we didn't know and make a copy of a document which had a template on it and write down all those words in the different slots. On the document there was a list of the variety of the fix up strategies. We had to use one strategy for each word. We had to write the word we were stuck on and why, what strategy we used, and what it means now that we know it. I didn't know only 4 words which were - Penultimate, Slalom, Jeongseon Alpine Centre, and Snared. I was able to find out the meanings to all the words.

Today I commented on Kaitlyn's blog. I commented on her Duffy Assembly blog post. I think she did a good job. I also went to the Duffy Assembly and made a blog post about it. I liked her detailed explanation of what happened. I also liked how the blurb includes a good description of what the guests - Tayla and Matt said. I liked the 2 images she used in the blog post as well. I just wanted to know if she enjoyed Duffy assembly.

Cyber-smart: Organising Drive
L.I: To organise my drive.
This week for inquiry we had to clean out our drive and sort everything out into the right files. My drive was already clean. We can do this by taking the unfilled D.L.O and depending on what subject it is under by dragging it into the subject file. Our drives need to be clean because if it is not and we are looking for a specific D.L.O, we won't be able to find it because it is just floating around unfilled with all the other work you have done. However if it is filed, you're drive looks neat and it will be easy to find.

Duffy Assembly
Today the school had Duffy assembly in the hall. We had 3 guests introduced to us, their names were Tayla Hodson Tomokino and Matt Johnson and a lady from the Mainfreight team. Tayla and Matt introduced themselves on the stage and talked about what they do. They talked about how reading got them to where they are now. Tayla used to be a famous national champion BMX rider and international famous competitor as well. She started when she was only 6. Her highest accomplishment was second place. She stopped competing when she was in high school. Tayla is also a interviewer/commentator. Matt is a blues rugby team player, and matt also played league for Melbourne Storms. Matt plans on becoming a PE teacher so he has to reads a lot of sports book and rule books even while he was still a rugby player. Tayla plans on becoming a lawyer but she is an accountant right now. She doesn't always want to be a lawyer though, she also want to be a sports person and is planning to become a lawyer for sports reasons too so she had to read a lot of lawyer books and biography books get where she is at. After talking about themselves we got to ask them a few questions before the Duffy book boxes were handed out to the classes. They would be visiting classes as well. Tayla and the lady from the Mainfreight company came to our class and answered a few more of our questions. I think her story is a real inspiration to everyone and goes to show that reading is an important thing in life. Then the two ladies helped hand out the Duffy books to all the kids in the class.

Kiwi Sport (Softball)
This week LS1 had kiwi sport with coach Ashley on the field. For softball this week, we were learning to hit the ball without a T and have someone pitch it to us. Today we played scatter ball and we were having more of a real game of softball. Like all the other games, we were divided into 2 groups, one was fielding and the other ways batting. Before playing the game, we had to run down to the playground and back for a warm up. Then the roles switched over. We had Ashley pitch it to us. If you couldn't hit the ball within 3 pitches to you, you had to hit it off the T. At first I thought I was bad at batting but it turns out that I was not that bad, I was able to hit every ball that was pitched to me within the 3 ball limit. We had 2 rounds of the game before coming back. After that, we went over the basics of the things and the basics of what we learnt throughout the weeks of playing softball. I think my batting needs a little more working on because I want to be able to hit it far.

Blog Commenting
Today I commented on Matthew's blog. I commented on his place value house blog post. I think he did a great job. I also did the same activity for maths. I really liked how his house was very neat and how he used H, T, and O in shorted way of saying hundreds and etc, I though it was a smart idea. I also liked how in the description, he let us know what he learnt in the maths session and what it is. I wanted know if he found using place value to subtract, was hard in anyway.

Figurative Language | Pigeon Impossible
L.I: To identify and use different forms of figurative language.
This week for writing I learnt about the different types of figurative language - personification, alliteration, idiom, simile, and metaphor. The groups had to watch a short clip called "pigeon impossible". Then we had to make a copy of a google doc and google slide. The document had two paragraphs of a short summary of what happened in the start in the mans POV. One had more detail than the other. In the detailed version there is all the different figurative language that he told us. We had to highlight the word/s if it was one of them. We had to do the actual work on the slide. On the slide, it had the same detailed paragraph and you can see in the slide. We had to do the same thing we did on the doc with the slide. Then we had to right our own figurative language paragraph and write what happened next, still in his point of view. My writing group had to use 2 of each one of the different types of figurative language. See if you can find where they are.

Device Skills & Shortcuts
L.I: To learn and use use core digital device skills.
This week for Cybersmart we talked about different device skills and shortcuts. We talked about all the different short cuts that we can use and tried a few of them out. We had to get into pairs or groups. My pair was Vayan. We had to make a copy of a google slide which had different shortcuts on it for us to try and we had to explain what happened after we did it. Some of them were just skills aswell. There were 7 differents shortcuts/skills. The pairs and groups had to help each other since some people don't know and haven't used the short cuts and skill before. The 7 different things we practised were - Ctrl + x and Ctrl + v, Ctrl + c and Ctrl + v, Ctrl + Shift + v, Ctrl a, Ctrl + z and Ctrl + y, and Ctrl + k.
Self-Monitoring Poster
L.I: To monitor our understanding of a text by ourselves.
This week for reading we had to create a poster that tells you about Self-Monitoring. We had to discuss over with our neighbours next to us sitting on the matt what it means. Then we had to watch a video that gives a full explanation of what self-monitoring is. Then we had to self-monitor ourselves with a book that we read. My group read the book - water worries. The groups learnt the different self-monitoring fix up strategies that you can do to help you when you are in that situation. We had to get into buddies from our group and say aloud the words we don't understand and the same with the other buddy. Our job was to create a poster that explains self-monitoring and what we know about it. In the poster we had to include 3 examples we got stuck in the book, and put what the word was, why you didn't know it, what strategy helped you understand it, and what it means after learning it. The three words I got stuck on were - Groundwater, Irrigation, and Aquifers. Even though I could pronounce them didn't mean I knew them. I also list the fix up strategies we learnt on the side of that poster. Self-monitoring means to be able to say yourself, what your understanding is of a word if you don't know it then being able to correct it using strategies.
Brand Mottos
L.I: To create a motto for your group that represents you as a team.
This week for inquiry we had to create a DLO that has different brands and their mottos. We also had to create a motto for our own teams since we had already created a logo. When writing the brands motto, we had to include why they have it and how it represents them as a brand or people. With our motto, we also had to base it so it had something to do with us as team. We did 5 different brands and our own team motto. We create a google presentation for this. The 5 brands were - Adidas, Apple, KFC, Rebel Sports, and Coke. The photos used in the DLO are all labelled for reuse but not atributed. Our group motto that my team and I came up with was "Think Unique". This is because when people her our team we want to think of us as unique and an inspiration which makes us different and creative.
Kiwi Can
This week LS1 had kiwi can in room 7 with Mr Matt and Miss Lily. Today for the first activity, we played 21. We had to get in a circle and pass around a ball. While passing the ball around, we had to count up to 21. Who ever still had to ball in their hand at 21 had to sit down while the game continues with everyone else, and the rules stayed the same until there was a winner. Then we had a short discussion of what we did last week and our topic. This week it is leadership and we talked about role models. The next game we played was called Who am I. We had to separate our selves into 3 equals and sit in straight lines. The person at the front had to stand up facing their group. Miss Lily would be writing something on the board and the person standing up had to ask yes or no questions to guess what that thing was. We had a few practise rounds to so how it would play out. Then after someone guessed it out of the three standing up, they went to that back of line and sat down which then the next person in the line went. It was a competition between the teams but all teams won at least one point even though we were counting how much each team got exactly. Lastly we had GKQ (General Knowledge Questions). The buzzer was "Hey". If you knew the answer you had to buzz in and say the answer. The first people in the line went then the next, until the person who was at the back was in the front again. We talked about. We also had a talk about who our role models are. Everyone agreed that our parents are our role models. Before heading off back to class the kiwi can leaders gave us a score for the day.

Place Value House
L.I: To show how to use place value to solve a subtraction equation using - ten for one and one for ten.
This week for maths we had to create a DLO showing an example of us using place value for subtraction. We learnt about the phrase - tens for ones and ones for tens. Ten for ones and ones means that 1 ten is that same as 10 ones and 1 one hundred is the same as 10 tens, so basically if you transfer a higher number in to a different number it will always be a ten or one. Like say if it was 100 which is a higher number, if you transfer into a different number digit like the tens it will still be one hundred but seem as 10 tens. I created my DLO and learning for this on a google draw. We had to first watch a video of someone showing us how to subtract using a place value house. After watching the whole video, we just went over again some of what she said and a few examples with the teacher. I learnt today that you can subtract using a place value house. My equation was 325 - 127. In the google draw I explain how I did it and show you what I did. I also included what is ten for one and one for ten.

SSR Selfie
L.I: To summarise and retell some texts.
This week for a Daily 6 I decided to post SSR selfie. Anyone can do SSR selfie, you just need to create a new slide on the SSR selfie presentation and summarise what happened in your library book. This is to help you get better at summarising and retelling things. My book was - George's Marvellous Medicine. I wasn't able to fit the whole summary of the story in, because it would be to long. I finished this activity at home but I didn't take my book with my so I just a image from online which was the same book that I had.

Today I commented on Mojtaba's blog. I commented on their team logo blog post. I think that he did a really good job. I also did the team logo/emblem inquiry task. I liked the images he used in his flag. Also how gave an explanation for what everything means and represents on the flag. I think that it gave the viewers a better understanding. I wanted to know if when he was creating it, if he ever found it hard because I know his whole group wasn't there to help him only Matthew and also if it took a long time for them. My team emblem did not and it was quite easy to do. I am happy with how our team emblem/logo came out.

Kiwi Sport (Softball)
This week Thursday LS1 had kiwi sport with coach Ashley on the school field. Today we were learning how to get someone out properly in softball. We learnt how to pitch, field and bat so now we are getting on to playing a real game of softball soon. We were going to play scatter ball. First we got split into 2 groups by Ashley like we always do. I was in team 1. Before the games we were taught how to get someone out. It is simple, you need to get the ball to the base before the player. This week we were still batting off a T but next week it will be pitched to us. Like always, everyone in the team would get a turn to bat then the roles would switch over so that the people who were fielding would be batting and the people who were batting would be fielding. I think we had 2 or 3 rounds of scatter ball before heading back to class. We needed to remember to touch each base when we were running. If you were running and felt like you might get out, you had to stay on the base and freeze until the next person hit the ball and went running which meant you could go too. My goal is too hit it more harder and try to make it go far so I have enough time. Also to think smart and stay on the base if I think I might get out. Softball with coach Ashley today, was very fun and I think everyone enjoyed it.

Inquiry Team Emblem
L.I: To create an Emblem for a group that represents qualities or things related to the groups team members.
This week, LS1 is having it's own minute to win it Olympics. Which is self explanatory, we have 60 seconds to complete a activity. The first step to this, is to get into groups. These groups would be the groups we would stay in, for this whole thing. We had to think about who were going to be with and who would be appropriate to work with. We needed 5 people in each team, but one team would have 4 since there are 54 people in the classroom. When I was thinking, I wanted to be with Farzana, Sakina, and 2 boys so it was quite equal. In my group there it, Chris, Sakina, Farzana and Jordan. Next, we had to create a team logo, an emblem. We created this on a google draw and by thinking about the people in the team. I really like how the flag turned out and I am excited to do inquiry this term.
The colours represents the favourite colours in our team -
Green - Jordan
Blue - Sakina & Farzana
Yellow - Victoria (Is one of my favourite colours, I like all the colours though.)
Red - Chris

Maths Strategies
L.I: To show different ways and strategies to solve subtraction and addition problems.
This week for maths we had to create a DLO showing different ways we can solve subtraction or addition equations. I created a Google presentation because it would be the best and appropriate one to use. We were given two subtraction questions to solve, and they were: 783 - 395, and 1123 - 846. I showed 4 ways to solve them - Place Value, Number Line, Reverse operation, and Algorithm. My favourite strategy to use is the Place Value.
Kiwi Can
This week LS1 had kiwi can in room 7 with Mr Malu and Miss Lily. Our topic is Leadership and our theme is positive relation ships. First we had to get into rows of 4. Our first activity we played was rock, paper, scissors. We had to find a partner for this game, my partner was Sakina. Between the two partners you had to play rock, paper, scissors, and whoever lost had to go behind the winner and cheer them on. The leader at the front of the line meant they were the leader, they got to verse other people as well and whoever lost had to join the back of the leaders train they had going on. We had about 3 rounds of that before coming back on the matt. We talked about our them and topic for last week. We also discussed with the kiwi can leaders, what makes a good leader and what does a good leader do. The next game we had was charades. I have played this game before and I really like it. We we're separate into teams of three because it would be a competition. One person from each team had to go to the leaders to be told what they would have to be acting out in front of there team. They couldn't talk of course. When your team got the answer you need to yes so that all of the members can say it at the same time so the leaders are notified which team got it first. Everyone in the team had a go. Every team was able to score at least one or more points. I was very happy when my team won a round, it was very fun. We came back on the matt into 4 equal lines again. It was time for GKQ (General Knowledge, Questions). One team at a time went. The buzzer for my team was "bok, bok" and do chicken actions. Then the next team, and etc. Today at kiwi can was very fun and I really enjoyed the activities.
This weeks Kiwi Can chant was - "Kiwi Can says, leaders are fair, leaders are fun, leaders include, Everyone".
Intensive Art Week Recount
This week for writing we had to make a recount about art intensive week using tree. To create our recounts, we had to first think about what we were going to for the reveal part, then 3 minutes to discuss with a friend, and 7-10 minutes to write. We had to do this for only some of the ideas and paragraphs before just writing whatever we had. I wasn't able to complete it all on the first day, but I was left with only a few paragraphs left needed to do. Then after completing it, we needed to go over our work with Mr Wong to get any feedback to fix it. My story was good, but we were going to go over some things on Thursday. Our writing purpose for this week was - Personal Recount, and writing focus was - Sentence Structure.

Picking up Puha Prediction
L.I: To make and check predictions about a text.
This week for reading we had to watch a video explaining about predictions. Then we had to look at a book and predict what my happen and write it down on a google doc. The book we were looking at was - Picking up Puha. We had to make a copy of a google doc which had two templates on it where we could make our predictions. We needed to write which type of story we think it is, what it is about and why we think that, and one sentence we might see in the text. We also had to make 3 predictions for what might happen in the story. Beside that, we needed to write if it was correct or not. In the end you needed to read it to make sure and check if your prediction was right or wrong. You can see my predictions above. I got some right and some wrong.

Pop Art Self Potrait
This week LS1 has been working on creating a pop art styled art work of our self. First we researched about this style of art and Andy Warhol. Andy Warhol was very famous and known for doing this type of art. Pop art is taking something or someone that is popular and create it into art. After the researching we got on to doing the pop art self portrait. First we had our photo taken by Mr Wong. Then we those photos were printed out in black and white. What we had to do was, get the printed out photo of us and use a blue pen to outline your details and to separate the black parts from the white parts. Once we finished that we moved on to the next step. We had to turn the paper over and outline the details that we made on the front of the paper but on the back. We needed to make it very thick and dark because we would be using it as a stencil later so it saves us the trouble of having to draw it free handed. We used this technique so that it transferred onto the new sheet of paper better, we had to take our pencil and go over it back and forth going over the line making it thick and dark. We we go this part wrong, then we had to start from the begin again because this was an important step and we had to make sure that we didn't forget any detail. It took a quite a while to do so no one wanted to restart. If Mr Ogilvie or Mr Wong approved your work then you got to move on. Afterwards we did the transferring. We had to get a new white sheet of paper and got it taped to the back of your paper with the self portrait. This part you had to be very careful and persistent with it and if you got this wrong you needed to restart all the way from the beginning. This all took time to do so I was more scared about messing this part up. To transfer it, we had to get a red pen and press hard and go over all the lines that you made and details. You needed to make sure that you did everything before looking to see if you did it right. I was very happy and relieved to see that mine worked just fine. Now once we finished all that drawing, it was time for colouring! First we are doing pasteling to colour in all the white spaces. We needed to get a bright coloured pastel to make it pop, because that it like what Andy Warhol did. I chose the colour pink, and so did my other 2 friends Farzana and Sakina. With part aswell, if you messed up you needed to start from the beginning. If you messed up you either coloured in the black parts, went out lines or maybe coloured in some of the black parts on accident but it was to much so you had to restart because paint and pastel don't go well. Next, after finishing that, we were close to finishing. All we needed to do was painting and vividing. Farzana was the first one to finish her work. In my opinion I think it looks great. We had to use only black to colour in the black parts in the photo. I was able to get on to this part and let it dry. Lastly was the vividing. We had to outline all the lines in the photo that were pencil with a vivid. I took photos for each stage of the pop art so that you can see the process. I enjoyed doing this because I love art, it is one of my favourite subjects and also because I get to get a practise about pop art and to learn a new style of art.

Little Boat Recount Commenting
L.I: Identify the features of recount.
This week for writing we looked back on our imaginative recount that we made last week - The Little Boat. We had to look at our recount and try to find 3 Time connectives, 3 First persons, and 3 past tense verbs. Time connectives are like - When, After,Then, Later, Before, First, and etc. First person words are like - Me, I, Myself, She etc. Past tense verbs are like - Soaked, Imagined, Ate, Appeared, Thought, and etc. If we found anyone of these things then we had to highlight it and comment what it was. You can see mine and my comments In my recount for the Time connectives I was able to find these 3 words - Next, then, after. For first person I found these 3 words - She, They and I. Today I commented on Sila's blog. I commented on her Andy Warhol poster blog post. I like how she attributed the photos she used and also how she made a separate box that tells the 5 W's and the H.One question I had about it was, who did she work with in her group of three for this activity. I think she did a great job.

Prior Knowledge Poster
L.I: To activate prior knowledge about a topic before reading.
This week for reading, we had to create a poster that explains about Prior Knowledge. I created my poster on a google drawing. I talk about - what prior knowledge is, how can we do it, how does it help us, and when can use prior knowledge. I also included a picture which relates to the topic. Last year, we created slides that talk about different reading strategies, and we also talked about all the strategies before creating the actual DLO. I think this strategy is very easy to use because we are using the information we already know to get a better understand and to connect with the subject. Before our creating we did learning. We talked about what the census is without reading any article, site or book and used prior knowledge by sharing our information we know about it. We then went on a site that talks about the census and the information you need to know about so we could find if we were right. All the information except from 1 or 2, we got right and we had evidence to prove it.
Kiwi Sport
This week LS1 had kiwi sport on the school field with a different coach. This week for Softball we learnt to pitch.
When we first got to the field, the coach split us in to 2 different teams. We had to line up boy girl, boy girl, etc. We learnt about the 4 different bases. Home base, 1st base, 2nd base, and 3rd base. Both of the teams had to stand in a line and run to each base and we one person at a time from each team needed to run at the same time. You had to touch each base with your foot,if you didn't you had to go back to that base and touch it. One the team player was done and they came back to home base, the next person would go, and the next until the last person. The coach said that it was a draw.
After that, each team had to line up behind a cone. One of the rows of cones had a ball on each cone. Your partner would be someone from the other team. My partner was Raera. First we learnt to flick with the ball. You and your partner had to take turns with ball to try flicking it to eachother. To flick the ball, your wrist and hand is doing all the work so your arm doesn't move at all.
After practising flicking, we learnt to throw the ball. We had to keep our arm in a straight in a line, then move our body so that it is in a K shape, then swing your straight arm back which is holding the ball, then flick it when it get's to your leg. We practised doing this with our partner. I did some good and I did some bad ones, but it was still fun. We even had a competition between all the partners to see who would win. Who had to flick the ball and catch it, but if you didn't you needed to put your hands on your head. Sadly me and my partner Raera weren't able to make 10 throws before dropping it. The winning pair was Sakina and Mr Ogilvie.
Lastly we went over the technique we did and how we did and the different bases. I found this week kiwi sport very fun like all the other times and it was cool to learn something knew and how to pitch in softball.
Pop Art Poster
L.I: To create a poster showing information about Andy Warhol and Pop art.
This week we had to create a poster that talks about Pop art and Andy Warhol. For this task, we had to work in groups. In my groups I had - Sakina and Farzana. We watched a video that showed images of Andy Warhol's pop arts and a article about Andy Warhol. We we're able to find some of Andy Warhol's most famous artworks. We also inserted images and their attributions. We had a talk about what pop art is so we knew a bit of information and we had to search for the rest. Pop art stands for Popular art, it is a famous style of art that captures something or someone that is popular and create it into a artwork piece. Andy Warhol was very famous and known for do this style of art. His pieces sold for millions of dollars. In fact one of his art works - "The Campbell's Soup Can", sold for 11.7 million dollars. One of his artworks was the most second expensive of all time. I enjoyed finding out this information and using my text,colour, composition and layout skills to make it look good.

Rounding up Numbers
L.I: To learn how to round up numbers.
This week for maths we had to create a DLO that shows how to solve an equation by rounding up the numbers. I created a google slides for this task. My group, the Maths Masters, we're given 10 equations to solve by rounding up the numbers. Rounding up is finding the closes ten to the number that you are adding to, and and the numbers that you need to make it a ten by using the numbers from the adding number. For example - 9 + 6 =. Nine plus one equals ten, so we take the one from the 6 and add it to our nine. Now we have a ten. We need add the 5 and ten together which equals 15. I thought it was very easy to do because I was able to finish the task quite quickly.
Kiwi Can
Today LS1 had kiwi can with Mr Mat and Miss Lily. We have a new topic this week and it's Leadership. First we played an activity called hammer. For this game you needed to find a partner, my partner was Sakina. We had to put our hands in a fist shape, then put one on top of the other with both hands. If Miss Lily said "up", the person's hand who is at the bottom had to move it to the top. If she said "down", the person's hand who is at the top moved their hand to the bottom. If she said "hammer", then person's hand on top got to hit their partner's hand below theirs. Then we came back the mat after playing a few rounds of the. Next we played a game to do with leader ship. We had to get into 3 lines. Everyone had to face the opposite of the kiwi can leaders and face the white board. The people at the front of the line were tapped on the shoulder by one of the Kiwi can leaders and given a pattern to do. Then once you had it, you need to tap on the next person's shoulder in the line after them and pass the pattern on until it got to the last person. Who ever got the pattern right, won. I was a bit difficult for the teams when we didn't get it right because some of the team mates might have mucked up the pattern on accident. After the last round of that, we had GKQ which is General Knowledge Questions. The buzzer was "woof woof". If one of the Kiwi Can leaders gave you a question, and you knew the answer then you needed to say the buzzer and if you got it right then the team sat down and the next team went until the last team. We talked about what makes a good leader, and what doesn't make a good leader. I think a good leader is a role model to others, is someone who is responsible, encourages others and included everyone. The chant for this week is - "Kiwi can says leaders are fun, leaders are fair, leaders include everyone!"

What is in a blog post?
L.I: To learn what is in a blog post.
This week for Cyber smart, we had to talk about the things needed and included in a blog post. In your blog post, you always need to have a blurb. The blurb needs to have a L.I which stands for learning intention. The learning intention tells the viewers what you were doing or why you did it. The blurb also needs to include what you did, why you did it, what you learnt, and how you learnt. This makes the viewers get a better understanding of what is going on. In a blog post, you need a DLO. A DLO stands for Digital Learning Objects. The DLO shows the task that you did and let the viewers see what you did for the learning. This also helps them get a better understanding. Having a DLO is option but you would most likely have it. The blog needs to have a title that tells you what the post is about, and also labels that tell you what you were doing this blog posts and the subjects that you were learning in. You need to make sure your sentences make sense and you have included all or at least some of the things in the blog post before publishing.

Alphabet Handwriting - Aa
L.I: To develop neat handwriting.
This week, I decided to do handwriting for Daily 6. I used the Alphabet sheet. I started with the letter A and copied what was on the sheet, into my book. I wanted to do handwriting so that my writing can look much neater. For the beginning, I had do the lower case A, then capital A's, 3 lower case A's at a time, then 3 capital A's at a time, then capital and lower case. We also had to write words and sentences including the letter A.

Kiwi Sport
This week we had softball kiwi sport Ashley. First, Ashley divided us into 2 groups. One group would be batting first and the other would be the fielders who go and get the softball balls. My team was batting up first. Each person in the line would get a turn, then the teams switched so we got the opposite rolls. When you were batting, you got to hit 2 balls. The people fielding had to wait until both balls were hit to put them back on the cone. Then when you finished batting your last ball, you needed to run to all of the bases. When the balls were back on to the cones they had to stop running. After the last switch over from that round, Ashley changed the rules. For the fielders, the ball needed to be passed twice before putting them back on the cones. Lastly everyone came back and sat on the field so Ashley could talk to us before we went. We went over how you need to hold the bat, and your stance/position when you hit the ball. Your knocking knuckles need to be lined up and together, your legs need to be shoulder width apart, elbows up, the bat rested on throwing shoulder, eyes on the ball and hit!
The Little Boat Recount
L.I: To plan and write an imaginative recount in the point of view of someone.
This week for writing, we had to watch a video called Little Boat, and then write a recount of the boats point of view/perspective. After watching the video, we needed to go away and write down ideas so then we could look back at it if we needed to later when we are writing the real recount. To write our ideas down, we used a site called coggle. I have used coggle before, it is very easy. It is very helpful in learning for the students to easily brainstorm ideas for anything. We used TREE to write ideas for the recount. TREE stands for Title, Reveal, Events, and Ending. I the DLO above is my recount of the point of view of how the boat might felt and what everything might have seemed to the boat.
