Night Owls & Early Risers | Activity 1 (Day 3) - Summer Learning Journey | WEEK 2
This was Activity 1 of Day 3 for Week 2 in the Summer Learning Journey. To complete this activity, I had to tell if I am a night owl or an early riser, and think the same about the rest of my family. A night owl is someone who stays awake and an early riser is someone who go to sleep at normal night and wakes up in the morning. I am certain I am a Night Owl. I love to stay up watching videos and being on my Chromebook. I could stay up until bright morning. My sister Tiava is a Night Owl just like me because we usually stay up together. My brother Joshua is one too but can also be a early riser sometimes. My Mom and sister Kahlista are early risers that sleep when night comes to wake up in morning.
Mimosa Pudica & Venus Flytrap | Activity 3 (Day 2) - Summer Learning Journey | WEEK 2
This was Activity 3 of Day 2 for Week 2 of the Summer Learning Journey. For this Activity I had to view a list of 10 strange plants and pick two of them and list three of their similarities and three of their differences. The two plants I chose were the Mimosa Pudica & the Venus Flytrap because I knew a little bit about these two already. For extra points, we had to insert two photos of the two chosen plants.
Dipper Pines | Activity 2 (Day 2) - Summer Learning Journey | WEEK 2
Today I completed Activity 2 of Day 2 for Week 2 to the Summer Learning Journey. I had to pick someone I know either personally or a character/actor who is strong and tough. I decided to choose a character from a show called "Gravity Falls". He's name is Dipper Pines. He may not be so strong and tough physically but why I chose him is because he believed in something even when nobody else did and he kept believing until he was proved to be right and everything he was believing in came to his reality. He was a strong person for that and tough for being able to take any hate that came his way. This made him a strong and tough person mentally.
Flax Weaving | Activity 1 (Day 2) - Summer Learning Journey | WEEK 2
This was Activity number 1 for Day 2 of Week 2 under the Summer Learning Journey. For this activity I had to watch a video of a women weaving a fish out of flax and think about if I would ever do flax weaving and why or why not. I have tried this weaving a long time ago but used paper instead. I would try weaving with flax because I am Tongan and in Tonga flax weaving is a common activity and representative. By doing this I can show my nationality in myself and also have fun by creating different things with the flax.

Cycling Race Support Crew | Activity 2 (Day 1) - Summer Learning Journey | WEEK 2
SUPPORT CREW:
1) Tiava because she is a good biker and hard worker.
2) Joshua because he can move fast and is really strong.
3) Kahlista because she is smart and ordered.
For the second activity for the day 1 of week 2 Summer Learning Journey, I had to choose three people as a support crew and why if I were in the Lake Taupo Cycle Race. The people listed were all my siblings because they fit what I needed. My sister Tiava has her own bike and is used to biking for a period of time, and she is very determined when it comes to things. My brother Joshua because he is very fast when moving his legs and he is really muscular as well. Lastly, my other sister Kahlista because she is the eldest and knows more about things and can organise everything. Plus they are all people close to me and I can be comfortable with, and all extremely funny/happy people.
Favourite Summer Activity/Swimming! | Activity 1 (Day 1) - Summer Learning Journey | WEEK 2
This was activity number 1 of day 1 for week 2 under the Summer Learning Journey. To start this new week, I had to use a picture to show me doing one of my favourite summer activities. Although the picture doesn't show much, it was a photo taken of after my two sisters and I went to one of my favourite places to be because it is one of my favourite things I like to do in the summer, swimming. The only place I go to is the YMCA Lagoon pools. This is one of my favourite activities because I can cool off in the pool and I usually organise to go with my friends. I enjoy swimming very much because I can not only have fun, but I can get outside and enjoy the weather.

Life in New Zealand | Activity 3 (Day 5) - Summer Learning Journey
New Zealand, one of the spectacular countries known to me. The blue oceans are so calming, and the healthy green trees are very welcoming. Full of safe communities and respecting people everywhere. The places I've seen will always be in my head when I think of here. Experienced some of my best times and met people I can trust. New Zealand, I am glad to call a home. - Victoria
Finishing off Summer Learning Journey Week 1 Activities, I completed the 3rd Task of Day 5. For this activity I needed to write a description of what life is like in New Zealand for 2018 using detail to create pictures and feelings. I describe the environment, people, and sightings. This really got me thinking about the country and had me to be descriptive about my personal life here.

Tundra Letter | Activity 2 (Day 5) - Summer Learning Journey
My Letter: Dear, Family my trip was great. Tundra is beautiful and I am loving the view. I was able to experience actual snow! It's icy and crunchy. Very quite and peaceful here, just what I needed. It's odd without trees as I a used to a land full of them everywhere. It's really freezing though, all my limbs are numb. I'll be back soon, wish you could've came :)
Sincerely, Victoria xo
Today's 2nd activity of Day 5 for the Summer Learning Journey was to imagine I took a class trip to Tundra before the weather changed up then couldn't and write a letter about my it to my family or friend. I chose to write it to my family because I would miss them the most and I would already be with my friends. I first had to find out a little bit about this place. It is land that is very cold without any trees. To earn the full point I had to begin with dear and follow it on by 5 to 6 sentence about the experience.

No Logging | Activity 1 (Day 5) - Summer Learning Journey
This was Activity 1 for Day 5 of the Summer Learning Journey. Today I had to decided weather I think logging should or shouldn't be allowed in New Zealand. Logging is when trees are being cut by loggers. I disagree with the ability that people should and can do this. I think this for one because trees supply a safe environment for the animals, but if trees are constantly being cut without replacement, then those animals have to keep calling a new place home until their isn't one. I also think this because trees are an important part of nature as it provides oxygen and a better and healthy environment.
Hotel Room | Activity 3 (Day 4) - Summer Learning Journey
This was activity 3 of Day 4 for the Summer Learning Journey. Today I was to where I would build a hotel and what material would I use. I would like to put my Hotel where the Aurora is visible above mountains. It would be a beautiful site and would put everyone to sleep. I would use soft carpet as the floors and strong wood for the outer structure. For an extra bonus 5 points, we had to design one room in the hotel. I wasn't able to fit everything in my one google draw, but I was able to put basic main things like a bedroom and kitchen. The picture above is the layout of the Hotel room.

Chicken & Cheese Enchiladas | Activity 2 (Day 4) - Summer Learning Journey
This was Activity 2 for Day 4 of the Summer Learning Journey. Today I had to choose one out of my many favourite foods and explain how you can make it. One of my favourite meals are chicken and cheese enchiladas. I love the flavour especially because I love cheese and chicken. The thought of them make my mouth water, these things are so tasty! It is special to me because we don't have them often or as much as I want to, even though they are an amazing dish. I decided to search up the recipe to the Enchiladas. How we make it, may be different in some ways but they are still the same. To make this, you need: Sour cream, Shredded cheese, Chopped cooked chicken and Tortillas. Other ingredients are optional for this but I have just listed the main ingredients. For more easy information for this click here - Chicken and Cheese Enchiladas
5 Questions for Sir Edmund Hillary | Activity 1 (Day 4) - Summer Learning Journey
1) How did you feel reaching the top of the mountain?
2) What did you think about your face being on the New Zealand 5 dollar note?
3) What were you thinking as you were climbing the mountain and when you actually reached the top?
4) How did you handle all the attention you were getting?
5) If there was one thing you could tell children/adults who are inspired by your story, what would you say to them?
This was the first activity for Day 4 of the Summer Learning Journey. For this activity to be completed, I had to imagine I met Sir Edmund Hillary and think about 5 Questions to ask him. He was a New Zealander, and the first man to reach the top of Mt Everest. I had a lot information to go off of for this.

World Wildlife Fun | Activity 3 (Day 3) - Summer Learning Journey
My Answer - The animal WWF are trying to protect in the clip are Tigers. To help the animal, they are running funds to save Tigers and making their statement of what they are doing public. I think success reached out of this is more donations for their workings.
DOC Ranger | Activity 2 (Day 3) - Summer Learning Journey
This was activity number 3 for day 3 of the Summer Learning Journey. For this I had to list 3 pro's and 3 con's of being a DOC Ranger after understanding what they do. These people protect the wildlife as living on an island. I also had to tell if I would like to be a DOC Ranger. Besides the good's of being a DOC Ranger, I think it just wouldn't work out for me. I love animals but I don't always have the courage or confidence to interact with some of them. I think i'd just leave it to the experienced to handle the job.

Imaginary Beast | Activity 1 (Day 3) - Summer Learning Journey
Today I completed activity 1 under day 3 for the Summer Learning Journey. For this activity I had to watch a video about unusual or strange animals and beasts. I then had to use my imagination to create my own beast. My beast is Malcolm. He is a winged giant, so skinny you can see his bones. His screeches are heard from miles and his teeth can bite through glass. His eyes are hypnotic and he can shape shift into anything and anyone.

SSR Selfie - The Cat's Pyjamas | Daily 6
L.I: To summarise and retell some text.
This week I completed a SSR Selfie slide about a book I read called "The Cat's Pyjamas" by Catherine Foreman. This book was very interesting to read and fun as well because the visual pictures. This Cat has many pyjamas that he wears on different days of the week when he goes to sleep. The pyjamas gives him different dreams depending on their design of what it is.
Plant Math | Activity 3 (Day 2) - Summer Learning Journey
This was the final activity for Day 2 for activity 3 of the Summer Learning Journey. For this we took a look at cacti and how they live on 3ml of water everyday to stay alive. We had to imagine having our own cactus and how much ml it would be to feed for a whole year, and how we work it out. To do this I began with the start of 3ml. Then I researched how many days there were in a year, and I came to find it was 356. Multiplying these two answers I came up with my answer, 1068. To show my working out, I first multiplied 300 by 3 because 3 stands for 2ml, but which is 900. Then 3 x 50 which is 150, and lastly 3 x 6 which is 18. Adding 900 and 150 gave me 1050, then adding 18 gave me my answer of 1068.
3 Ferns Sports Teams | Activity 2 (Day 2) - Summer Learning Journey
This next activity was the second for day 2 of the Summer Learning Journey. For this we had to research to find 3 sports teams with "fern" in their name. What I did was Silver Ferns, Black Ferns, and White ferns. We also had to choose depending on the uniform, what we liked best. I liked the Cricket team outfit best because it's more suitable for me and I'd think it'll be more comfortable to wear during the sport since I can move around in it easily and the simple design represents the team but also is simple but layed out well.
Tane Mahuta | Activity 1 (Day 2) - Summer Learning Journey
This was the 1st activity for Day 2 of the Summer Learning Journey. In this activity we had to write about whether we would or wouldn't like to visit Tane Mahuta Tree one day. I decided that I would like to visit the tree because it would be a great site to see and get out in the nature. It was fun researching and finding a bit more about this Giant tree.
Rosa Parks | Interactive Presentation
L.I: To create an interactive post about a peaceful activists.
The past 2 weeks for inquiry we have been working on creating an interactive presentation. My partner was Florence, and we chose to make our D.L.O on Rosa Parks. There were specific things we needed to include, being philosophy, biography and LS1 philosophy application. We did this on a google presentation since it was better for what we were doing. It also had to be interactive somehow so we can then present it in front of the class. Our script had to be different from what was on the real D.L.O so we wrote what we were going to say in the speaker notes. To make our presentation interactive, we asked 4 questions about Rosa Parks for the class and viewers to answer.

Digital Footprint | Activity 3 - Summer Learning Journey
This is now the 3rd Activity from the Summer Learning Journey that I enjoyed completing. For this we had to make a copy of a footprint and type inside how to stay smart online. Using the cyber-smart skills that I have learnt at school, I used what I knew to write about being smart online and safe surfing. I was able to fit 5 things to know about online safety in the footprint.
My Home Town | Activity 2 - Summer Learning Journey
This has been Activity 2 I've completed from the Summer Learning Journey. In this activity we had to think about our home town and what about it makes it special to us. My home town is Auckland and the structures and people make it special to me. Even the little things are beautiful and give me a great home to live in. It was good to get time to think about my home because it reminds me to be grateful for what I have.
Top 3 Fun Facts about New Zealand | Activity 1 - Summer Learning Journey
This week LS1 has began our start on completing the week 1 activities for the Summer Learning Journey. The first activity was to read facts from the provided site and choose 3 top facts about New Zealand. The 3 Facts were what interested me most and were extra information adding on to my knowledge about New Zealand. It was fun to read more about this country and create my D.L.O.

Division Video | Math Task 4
L.I: To create a video about Division.
This week for Math we had to finish our last task for the week. I was to make a video about division. This time we could choose what strategy, what number range, and how many questions. I was doing place value, in 100 to 1000's number range, and 3 questions. The first thing I did was make my script of what I would say and later create the video. To read the script as I recorded, I used a whiteboard and wrote it down on it. The site used o record was screencastify.
List of Idioms
L.I: To learn a whole bunch of idioms.
This week for Reading we had to get into a group a of three and write a bunch of idioms, using some ideas from the 2 linked sites. I worked with Andrew and Florence to create 28 idioms all together and adding up to 29 points in total. The points were scored depending on if the idiom was from either of the lists which was 2 points and if it wasn't which was 1 points. I did 6 of the idioms, as Florence did 1, and Andrew did 21. To finish a complete slide we had to write and link the definition, example of the idiom from a text or such and explain the idioms used in that tense. An idiom that sounds different from what it actually means.

Inter-school Athletics 2018 | 75m Sprints / 5&6 Relay
On December the 5th, the 2018 athletics was held in pakuranga and a group of special people from Panmure Bridge would be attending including myself. These people made it in because they had a useful part in them and were the top at doing something and would help represent our school for some of the events held like every other year. I was in for year 6 75 metre sprints, and year 5 & 6 relay team. I felt nervous before every event I was participating in, but I didn't care how well I did in them. The first thing I did was year 5 and 6 relay heats. In this team with me was Charlize, Sione T, and Karlos. After pushing threw and putting in our 100 meters, we made it in the finals after coming 2nd/3rd. In the finals we tried hard once again but I don't remember what we came. In 75m I was still a little exhausted but I came 4th. This was an exciting and tiring day but fun.
Rosa Parks | Planning
This week for Inquiry we have been researching activists and working on creating interactive D.L.O's on them. The chosen activists for Florence and I was Rosa Parks. She was an African-american women supporting and fighting for racial rights. We have completed our planning of what needed to be had in our presentation about our activists. This was a lot to complete and would talk around 2 weeks so what is shown is a plan of what will go in our D.L.O. Her story was a big movement and story. In a short description, she was the women who denied moving from her seat in a bus for a white man and was arrested for the issue.
20 Verbs | Perfect Tense (Past Perfect, Present Perfect, Future Perfect)
L.I: To identify verb tenses.
This week for Writing we took a look at perfect tense and how to write them in past, present, and future. Each of the different tenses show us what is going on. Perfect tense tells us what is happening until one point in each past, present, and future. The future perfect tense tells us something that will happen until a sudden point, the past perfect tense tells us something that already kept happening until a point, and present perfect tense tells us what has been happening. After writing all 20 verbs and inflecting them, we had to record at least 7 videos for each of the verbs. Florence and I recorded 8 videos, 4 on the bottom and 4 on the top. To make a future perfect tense sentence, you have to add will + have then the verb. To make a past perfect tense sentence you have to add had + been then the verb. Finally to make present perfect tense you need to add have/has + been then the verb. The common thing between all of them is the word "been".
Find, Draw, Animate, Act | Vocabulary (Words)
L.I: To learn a bunch of new words.
This week for Reading we looked at a bunch of new words and their definition. We showed them by either acting them out, drawing it, animating it or finding it online. Kaitlyn, Florence, and I completed doing 18 words some from each of the 2 provided lists of vocabulary to help us. First we had a small discussion about the different types of words we know as in verb, adjective, noun, and etc. We made two videos under act, 4 animations under animate, 4 drawings under draw, and 8 images on find. We also had to explain what the word meant in a short description or other words with their meaning. This was fun discovering these new words and creating or finding sources about it.

Kiwi Sport | Boxing
This week was our last session of kiwi sport with Pax in our classroom. Today we learnt new boxing combos using the punches and techniques we learnt throughout the weeks of boxing. First we got into partners and my partner was Florence. For the first part, Florence put on the gloves and I got two pool noodles. The first combo was jab, jab, cross, guard, cross. We did this a few times before moving on to the other combo which was jab, cross, left hook, bridge, left hook. The last combo was using uppercut and roll. We swapped position in our pairs after so that I had the boxing gloves on and Florence had the pool noodles. I then got to practise doing the combos we learnt. Afterwards, we all went over a few more things that we did in the other weeks of boxing. We also did some combos as a class and did all the boxing punches (Jab, Cross, Left Hook, Right Hook, Left Uppercut, Right uppercut). We finished up the session by taking a final photo with our coach then putting the gear away and saying our thank yous. Today was a good session and everyone enjoyed learning all Pax had to teach for us as Kiwi Sport.
