Summer Learning Journey | Activity 1 (Day 4) | W2

For activity 2 of day 4 for week 2 from the Summer learning journey, I had to click on a link to read more about the timeline of world war 2. Then we had to choose 2 key events and find more information about what happened on those days. Then afterwards we had to make a blog post and write a short summary of both of the two events and include the names of the people involved and where the event took place. Click the link below to check out the site.
WWII - Timeline

Chosen events:

1. 1st September 1939 (Germany invades Poland)
- The invasion of Poland was the beginning of world war 2 and started on the 1st of September in 1939. It took place in Poland and Nazi Germany, Soviet Union and Free City of Danzig were all involved in the invasion.

2. 3rd September 1939 (Britain, France, New Zealand, and Australia declare war on Germany)
- in 1939 on the 3rd of September, Britain and New Zealand declared war on Nazi Germany in response to the invasion of Poland. The allied Forces of Britain, New Zealand, France, Australia and Nazi Germany were all involved in this event.

  1. Hi Victoria,

Ruby here from the Summer Learning Journey!

Good work with this activity. I really like how you have included the link to the timeline on your blog so that people can find out more information if they would like to.

Those are two very important events right at the start of the war! It would have been a very difficult time for people all over the world when war was announced. I wonder why Germany decided to invade Poland. Do you think there still would have been a war if that event didn't take place?

If the war started on the 1st September 1939, I wonder when it finished. How many years was the world at war? It affected so much of the world for so long!

I look forward to reading more of your blog over the summer.
    Cheers,
    Ruby.

  2. Hello Victoria
Well done on finishing this summer learning journey activity. I like how you used numbers and dashes to order your information. I also like how you added the dates of the two events. Keep up the excellent work Victoria.
