Simple Maths Strategies
L.I: To learn and understand how to solve addition and subtraction problems using place value.
This week for maths we had to create a DLO showing different simple maths strategies explain how you have done it. On my DLO I have shown you 4 different ways you can solve the equation - 49 + 36 and how to prove that it does equal 85. The first strategy is the Number line and I explain to how I do that, the next strategy I did was the Number bond strategy and I explain I how I use it to solve the equation, the next strategy was the Vertical maths strategy and I also did an explanation for that as well, the last strategy was the Place value strategy and just like the rest of the strategies, I explain how I do it.

L.I: To find out different information and facts about the Olympics.
This week for inquiry, we had to create a DLO showing information and facts about the Olympics and our school PBS. We needed to work in pairs, but I worked in a group of 3 with Farzana and Sakina. We needed to find and write the Olympic motto then the PBS motto, the Olympic creed then the PBS Whakatauki, the Olympic flag then the PBS Logo and lastly the Olympic values and the PBS values. We were able to find out all of the information for each of the questions. The connecting between our school values and Olympic values are how we also have respect, excellence in our values and also friendship is something we all know and follow at school. The connection between the Olympic flag, and our school logo is that they both represent something that has to do with what it is and it's location, like with the Olympic flag, the rings represents different contenets and the PBS logo represents how we are near to the panmure bridge. The connecting with the creed and our school Whakatauki, they both are encouraging and motivating you to do something that has to do with whatever it is. Lastly with Motto's, they both also have something to do with what the things are about like with the strive to achieve motto, they talk about strive to achieve in learning and with the faster, higher, stronger motto they are kind of talking about your capabilities and your skills and how it takes a lot of training.

Blog Commenting
Today I commented on Mojtaba's blog. I commented on his Winter Olympics post. I also did the activity he did. I liked how he attributed all of the images that he use. I also thought it was good how he listed all of the disciplines since a lot of people linked it to a site but that it a very good idea as well. I just wanted to know who he worked with since we all had to work in teams to do this inquiry activity.

Kiwi Can
This week LS1 had kiwi can in room 7. Our topic is fairness and fair play, and our theme is positive relationships. When we first got there we got our self into 4 groups. For this first activity we played Tigerlo which was a mix up of tiger and buffalo. Tiger was ra and we had to put our hands out like you were about to scare someone. For buffalo you had to say ouuu and put one figer from each hand above your head to act like horns. We would need to get in a circle and whenever Mr. Malu pointed to you and said one of them you had to the actions and say the quote. You had to do the actions or else you were out, and you needed to say it or else you would be out too. We had a few practises before the actual game. In the real game, I won! For this next activity we played clap jump. We needed two taggers. We all had to stand still until whenever Mr. Matt or Miss Lily clapped, then we had to take one jump. The taggers would try to tag you so you needed to jump away from them when you could. If you did get tagged, then you had to sit out. We had three rounds at that game before moving on. Then we came back onto the mat in 4 lines. We talked about what encouraging means to us and how we can encourage others. To me, encouraging means to support others and to keep going. Lastly we had GKQ which stands for General Knowledge questions. The people at the front of the for each group got a question and they had to buzz in if they knew the answer and then the cycle continued until we got to the last person. This time, the buzzer was their name and then they had to put their hands behind there head. Our Kiwi Can quote/chant this term was - Kiwi can says, when you argue, sort it out, don't shout, work it out.

QAR Questions
L.I: To create QAR questions from an article.
Today for reading, we had to make up our own QAR questions for each type, from an article called - Niuean Sports Day. After reading the book we needed to create 2 questions for each of the type of the questions we learnt about - Right there, Think and search, Author and me, and on my own. A right there question, is when the answer can be found really easily, usually in the first sentence of paragraph of the text. A Think and search question, is when there is more than one and answer and you need to search for it. A Author and me question, is when you use the authors ideas to come up with your own answer because there is not one in the text. Lastly, An On my own question, is when you can answer a questions with an experience or opinion of yours, and you don't have to read the text to answer it.
Here is a link to the text so you can read the article that I made the questions to - Niuean Sports Day

Blog Commenting
Today I made a comment on Sakina's blog. I commented on her Winter Olympics 2018 post. I really thought that she did such a great job on it. I really liked how all of the images she used were labelled for reuse and attributed. I thought it was very good that here poster had no empty spaces. I really liked her L.I for the post since we had to make up our own individual L.I's for the posts. I wanted to what site she used to find the distance between South Korea and New Zealand. Also, if there was anything hard about the activity she did.

Free Rice
Today for a Writing can do, I decided to play free rice. I have played this games a lot of times, and posted about it a lot of times as well. To play free rice, you need to answer the questions. Every question you get right, you earn 10 grains of rice. If you don't, you will correct you and you won't get any rice. The point of this game is to try to help kids learn but still donate to people who don't get food. I think it is a great game and cool that it is helping to stop world hunger.

Winter Olympics
L.I: To create DLO and find information about the Winter Olympics.
Today for inquiry, we had to create a google draw and answer 5 questions about the Winter Olympics. A map of where it is and where it is being held, How far is it away from New Zealand, How long does it go for, How many countries are competing, and How many disciplines are there. For this inquiry activity we had to work in groups, in my group I had Sulia, Kaitlyn and Hinemoa. We used our researching skills and found out the right information. We even put extra information, and wrote how many athletes are competing. With this DLO, we were also practising our layout, composition, text and colour to get better with how we make our DLO's.

SSR Selfie
L.I: To summarise and retell the text.
This week, for a daily 6 and also a must do, I do did SSR Selfie. For this daily 6 activity, you need to read a book (most likely to be your library book), then make create a new slide on the SSR Selfie Google presentation and summarise the book. You also need to take a selfie/picture of the book and insert it into the slide next to the text. I read the book Weirdo 7 Mega Weirdo by Anh Do. If you would like to know what happened in this book, read the text and hopefully it gives you a good idea of what went on in the book.

Kiwi Sport (Soft Ball)
This week Thursday, LS1 has Kiwi sport with Coach Alison. The sport, for kiwi sport this term, was Softball. First we were told to get into a pair, my partner was Sakina. There were cones 2 lines of cones that went down the field and on the left side, there was a softball ball on the cone. One of the pairs had to go on one side, and the other had to go on the other side and face there partner. First we learnt how to throw it. Which ever hand you write with, you throw with. For example, I write with my right hand so I use my right hand to throw. Then you use the other hand to point forward to where you are going to throw. Your hands should make and L like shape. You had to face side was as well, then throw. Your hand you throw with, should meet with your opposite hand after you have thrown it. Then we tried tossing it to each other in our pairs. Next, we learnt how to catch, it is pretty simple. You need to have your hands in the butterfly shape/W shape. We then played a game. This was a challenge between all of the pairs. You had to throw it to your partner and catch, if you didn't you had to sit down. If you did you need to take a big step back. For the first round, me and Sakina won! For the next round, we did not win but we got into the top 3. For the next game we learnt a technique the monkeydile, a mix of a monkey and crocodile. It is a catching technique. If the ball is rolling on the floor, you swing your arms to get to the ball like a monkey, and when it gets to you, snap your hands together to catch like a crocodile. Then we played another game. For this game you had to toss it up high, while your partner needs to clap as many times as they can before catching it. It got harder, by us having to crisscross our legs while clapping and catching. Today was fun at kiwi sport but I did drop the ball quite a lot of times of course.

Blogpost Bar Graph Stats
L.I: To create bar graphs showing the stats of my blog posts.
Today for maths we looked at our blogs and created bar graphs that both showed how much blog post I had done. For bar graph number one, it was the amount of blog post I had done in the months of the year for my best month, which was 2017. Bar Graph 2 shows the amount of blog post that I did in the years that I have posted. On my blog, It might be different now, but when I did this activity, this was how much blog posts I did.
3 Point Summary
L.I: To write a 3 point summary about an article.
Today for Reading, we had to read a article about the Annual Niuean sports day. For this task, we were able to work in partners or not. I worked in a pair with Sakina. Then we had to create a 3 point summary by choosing 3 W's out of all the 5 W's. We chose - When, Who and What. We had to write when it happened in the book, Who was involved and What happened. Then we also had to write a connection to those things. Our what connection is how we had an Athletics sports day as well but it was all of the people of panmure bridge school. My who connection is, some peope from Tamaki College and the whole of panmure bridge school. Lastly, my when connection was that it was also in summer, outside on the fields and at school.

5 Sentence Writing Recount
L.I: To write a 5 sentence recount using the main ideas.
Today for writing, Mr Wong's groups went outside and played a game. After we came back inside the class, we had to write a 5 sentence recount of what we did. We had to include the main parts of a recount - The Reveal, events, and the ending/how you felt but keep it short. For each part of the things, we had to write only a sentence. You can see my 5 sentence recount above.

Photo Attribution Work
L.I: To attribute work to the original owner.
This week for cyber smart, we learnt how to attribute images to the owner. First we learnt why we attribute and how we can attribute. I already know how to attribute photos because I done before last year. To attribute you need to search up the image you want of course, click tools, then click on labelled for reuse. Click on the image and then copy and past the link to the photo and change the name to photo. Then click on the authors page and copy that as well and change the name to his page name. Lastly click on the rights reserved and copy the cc by and the link for it to show proof. Our task for this, was to find a labelled for reuse photo and attribute it. I used a photo of the Mad hatter from Alice and the wonder land.
