L.I: To show our understanding of the school C.A.R.E Values.
This week for leadership week, we have been put into our team groups. Each group was given a piece of paper asking questions about what Confidence, Attitude, Respect, and Excellence and innovation means and looks like. We used a presentation to add our answers and use photos we took created by us showing the care values.

Kiwi Can

This week Wednesday we had Kiwi Can in room 7 with Mr. Matt and Ms. Page. Our new topic is Respect for the environment and our theme is respect. First we had a little discussion of what environment means and how we can respect it. The first thing we did was our energiser which was called Snake. The volunteered tagger would have to crawl and squiggle on the floor, attempting to tag the other people. If you were tagged, you had to be a snake as well and try to tag the other people too until their was the last person standing. Then we played  one more round before coming back to the mat. The next things we did after another discussion, we played our activity which was Tic Tac Toe on chairs and with people. We got into groups of 5 and one group of 6. My group was of six and was of Florence, Alayah, Sakina, Miiana, Sulia, and I. Our group name was Islanders. Two groups versed at a time and in the end, The Footballers team won the rounds. We finally came back and talked abuot our theme and topic once again and share ideas on it. We finally ended the lesson of Kiwi Can by having a game of Master which was like GKQ (General Knowledge Question). The master from last week was Sandra which she started off the game. We finally said goodbye to Mr. Matt and Ms. Page. after the circle went around completely and there was only one winner

Kiwi Can

This week Wednesday we had another session of Kiwi Can in room 7 with Mr. Matt and Ms. Page. Our theme in Kiwi Can is respect and our topic is respect for the community. First we discussed what is community and the people in our community. Then we went on to play our energiser which was Hand Ball, a game we played before. We had to get int a circle and leave a gap in our legs about shoulder width. Then we had to put one of our hands behind our back and the other in-front of the space between our legs. The other hand out was used to block since there was a ball and everyone was trying to hit it into someone else legs. If it did, you had to sit out until the round was over. In the end there were two winners, but I was lucky enough to make it into top four, before getting out. After the game, we came back to the mat and thought about our topic and theme. Then we had our activity of the session which was hand soccer. The class was split into two groups and each group had to line up on one side of the class facing the other team. Each group numbered everyone in their group. I was in group two, and I was numbered as number three. Mr. Matt would call out some numbers, and those people had to go and hit the ball that was placed in the middle, into the other teams goal to score ourselves a point. The first one to ten was the winner. Our group name was Cookie-potato, and we successfully won the game. We lastly came back to the mat and had a game of GKQ Master before saying goodbye to the kiwi can leaders and going back to class.

Kiwi Can

This week Wednesday we had another lesson at Kiwi Can in room 7 with Ms. Page and Mr. Matt. Our theme is Respect and our topic is Respect for the community. Our phrase to remember this is "Come in unity, for our community". Our energiser for today was called remote. The rules of the game were to follow the instructions and sit out on the side if you get out. The instructions were to listen for one of the four things he said and do them. If we hesitated or did the wrong action, we were out. One of the four things was play which was to walk around, another was to fast forward which was to speed up our walking pace, the next one was to rewind which is walk backwards, and lastly was pause which was to stay where you are and not move. Later on the game he added new action which was stop where we had to lay down on the mat. On the first round I stayed in and was one of the winners with a few other people. We then came back to that mat and talked about why our community is important, who is in our community, how we respect our community, and who is in that community. Our last thing we did was the activity outside on the netball court which was invisible tag, a game we played before. For this game we were split into two groups and each group lined up on one side. However many the leaders said had to go around the pole. They had to go around the pole and whoever was first was the one who had the invisible ball and had to go to the other side to score their team a point. If you go tagged the tagger was in and you couldn't tag them back. We finally sat down and said goodbye to the kiwi can leaders and head to class.

Kiwi Can

This week Wednesday we had Kiwi Can with Mr Matt and Ms Paige. Our theme is respect for our school and our Topic is respect. The first game we played was our energiser which was Centre Ball. For this game we got into a small circle and Paige numbered everyone off between 1 and 4. In the middle of our circle was a ball. If one of the leaders called a number like "3", then all of the threes had to run around the circle clockwise until they are back in there spot, and had to go through and grab the ball. Who ever was the first to get it, one. I got the ball for all my number callings. After the rounds we came back to the mat in four lines and talked about rules. Next we played our activity which was Bus stop. Ms Paige numbered 5 people and they were a group. We had to write "Boy name, Girl Name, Food, Animal, Color, and Total" on a sheet of paper. One of the leaders gave us a letter and we had to fill out as much columns as we could. If you finished everything you shouted "bus stop" and everyone had to stop writting. If another group got the same answer as you, then you get a point as 5, but if no one did then it was a 10. After adding up the points we got for each answer we wrote in the total. My group was Hosea, Diana, Xaiver and Me. In the end we got 185 points. We lastly came back to the mat to re-cap our theme, topic, and what we did, then headed back to class.

Kiwi Can

This week we began our first session of kiwi can with a new theme and topic. There was also a new leader to cover for Ms. Lily, who was Ms. Page. Our theme is respect and our topic is for our school. Under respect we are learning about values and what respect means. Values can be for our school, or anywhere else. Respect means to appreciate, care, and accept the things and people around us.

We first got straight into our energiser which was was called Rules vs No rules. For this, we played a game of tag without rules and then with the rules. For the first round we played without rules where everyone was the taggers and even if you were tagged, you could continue tagging other people. At the end of that game, everyone thought without rules it wasn't a proper game of tag and it was unfun.

Then we played the round with the rules where Mr. Mat and Ms. Peho went around tagging people with a pool noodle. If you got tagged you had to sit on the lino whilst you wait for everyone else to be tagged to finish the game. In this version of playing, everyone thought it was fun bu more difficult which makes it a proper game of tag. We also played another round where we had to hop which made it more harder too.

We came back to the mat and discussed discussed values we have in and out of school. Then we split into four groups to begin our activity. One person from each group went up to find out what the activity was about and tell the rest of their group. It was a scenario where there was a shared lunch but two students didn't bring any food. We could make an act where we did the version of a bad acceptance and good acceptance. In my group was Florence, Ellenora, Miiana, and Angelica, and we all decided to do re-enact a good act for the scenario. The other groups decided to do the bad version of how the scenario went. After everyone was finished preforming the short acts, we talked about what happened in them, then came back on the mat to finish up the lesson.

We lastly had a game of GKQ which stands for general knowledge questions and the last master started the game off with any person then going any direction from there. The master for last term was Fanini. Each of the leaders would ask questions and whoever was the first to answer between the two won, and continued playing to verse the other people until the last person. In the end me and Ms. Page versed, and I had won the battle. We finally re-caped what we did and the new themes and topics before saying goodbye to everyone and heading off back to class.

Kiwi Can

This week  LS1 had kiwi can in room 7 with Ms. Latoya and Ms. Lily. First we were split into 2 groups. I was put into group 1. Then we played a game that was similar to tag. For this game we had to go outside. One team were the taggers and the other team was the runners. The taggers had to use a ball and try and tag the runner with it but you had to pass it to your team mates because you cant move with the ball. There were hula-hoops as well and they were safe places where you couldn't get tagged, but you could only stay there for 5 seconds. The the tagger had a turn being the runners and the runners had a turn being the taggers. Then we played another game where the 2 team had to get into circles. In the centre of each circle was a cone. One person from each team had to go into the centre of the other teams circle. There was a ball and the team had to try and roll it to try and knock the cone done whilst the person inside the circle had to try and block it and push it away so it couldn't fall. If they failed to stop the ball and it knocks the cone down, some else from their team would take their spot. Then we went back inside and created tall towers made of trays. The tower had to be at least the height of where your waste was. Then we built it again but outside. Cones were surrounding the tower the 2 teams made. Only a few people would play at first then the next people from the team would play on the next round. The goal is to try and pass it to your team mates so your team can get closer to the other teams tower then try and knock it down. Who ever did it wins. We played this until the morning tea bell rang and we had to go back to class.

Kiwi Can

This week Wednesday LS1 had kiwi can in room 7 with only Ms. Latoya. Our theme is still respect. First we discussed what we talked about last week which was Empathy. Empathy is like the phrase - put your self in my shoes, which is basically saying see what my life is like, try doing what I do or something like that. The first activity we did was greetings . For this game we had to get in to pairs and Ms. Latoya would show us an action for when she said a greeting in different languages. We would have to do that action to our buddy and they had to do it back. Then we talked about what is different about people and how we might do things differently or act differently for people. Then the next activity we did was props. For this game we had to stay in our groups of 4. Ms. Latoya would pick out a prop and each group had to make it into to something different our make do something different with it besides what it is actually for. In my group I had - Sakina, Akuhata, Hosea, Andrew and Karlos. After playing that, we only played one more activity which was buddy up, buddy down. We had to get into partners for this game and we had to go outside. One of the buddies had to stand in the small circle in the middle facing forward, then the other buddies had to be facing there buddy but they would stand at the outer circle. When Ms. Latoya said buddy up, you and your buddy had to swap positions or places, if she said buddy down then you and your buddy had to sit down, then if she said buddy left or right that means the people on the outer circle had to run right if she said buddy right or run left if she said buddy left. You had to make it back to your buddy quickly, but if you were the last person then you were out. We played this until the morning tea bell rang and I found it really fun.

Kiwi Can

This week LS1 had kiwi can in the hall with Ms. Latoya and Mr. Malu. The theme we were focusing on was still respect. First we were split into groups of four. Then we did the energiser, and for the energiser we played evaluation. We had to act as if we were an egg and lay on the floor and get into a ball. We had to roll around and if you got tagged you had to act as if you were a kiwi and you had to squat and walk around. Then if you got tagged once again you had to act like you were a chicken or moa bird and walk on your knees. We had a few rounds of that then we moved on to the real activity. This activity was called flip it but it was like volcanoes and valleys. For this game we were split into two teams. Mr. Malu placed cones around the hall and some were flipped over and some weren't. One team had to flip the cones up and the other team had to flip the cones down. We had to do it quickly because we had only a little bit of time. Lastly we did GKQ which just means - General Knowledge Questions. This time we had to get into a circle and someone would stand behind the person they were sitting next to and Ms. Latoya had to ask a question and the first one to get the answer out of the two people gets to move on to the next person and verse them and etc. We went around the whole circle before leaving back to class.
