Activity 3: Concluding the Journey

1. Which activity did you enjoy the most? This is my favorite activity of all of them, because I really enjoy being able to reflect and talk about my amazing Journey with the programme this year.

2. Which activity did you enjoy the least? There wasn't a single activity that didn't serve a purpose or meaning. I've learnt something from each one, that took lots of effort. So I don't have an answer for this one.

3. Three things you've learnt while completing the programme? I've learnt a lot more about climate change, and what is happening to our environment. Another thing is about the current wild fires in New South Whales which is actually impacting a lot of Australia. And lastly is quality over quantity, as I focused more on my learning rather than just getting all the activities done in a day.

4. What changes/improvements you would make to the programme for next year? A update for the programme might be to create a list of names with a link to their blog, of those who have registered to the Summer Learning Journey. This would help a lot because I don't know what schools, what classes, or even what students to look at in the cluster and it's really difficult to find them by myself. A change I would make to myself is try to look at more schools out of Panmure Bridge School too.

Sadly, this concludes the Summer Learning Journey for 2019-2020. It's time to reflect on everything we've learnt, and enjoyed this year with the programme. I've had a lot of fun with other participants, and the Manaiakalni team! I absolutely loved the theme this time, and looking at change makers. And my one piece of feedback is that the website has really improved and things are easier to access and locate. Best of luck to everyone in the cluster, and I hope you have enjoyed my blog posts (-:

  1. Well done on posting, continuing and completing the SLJ this year. What could you do to be a climate changemaker Victoria? I really like your feedback in point 4 and we'll certainly make sure that it goes forward to the SLJ team...Keep re-checking your blogging and posts, commenting on all the comments you've received from others and leaving comments on others to increase your chance of winning one of the awesome prizes and to keep up your learning over the school break! I've been doing a lot of commenting - I hope to get to 400-500 comments before the last day, only 100 to go...wish me luck! The Summer Learning Journey really pushes me to do extra learning over the holidays, and that's almost my favorite thing about it. I'll be sure to say Hi, thank you a lot!

  2. Kia ora Victoria!

CONGRATULATIONS for finishing this years' SLJ programme, "Changemakers: People who have changed the world" - you're the THIRD learner from Panmure Bridge School to complete the programme, that is a gigantic achievement so WELL DONE!!

You write really well, Victoria. I appreciate that you took your time with your mahi as well, instead of just rushing through it until the end. Quality over quantity is the best way to go, especially when it comes down to picking the winner - so thank you for considering this.
I'm glad that you learnt more about climate change and how this is responsible for the fires in Australia - did you know that it's not just happening in NSW? It's happening in states all over the country. How do you think you could help with this tragedy?

Great suggestion for the programme next year! I will be sure to take this to our team meeting next week :)

Don't forget to keep commenting on other learners' SLJ related blog posts in order to increase your chances of winning more prizes!

  7. Hello Victoria,
I am Vitaraag and I am participating in the Summer Learning Journey from the Ako Hiko cluster. I would like to say congratulations on finishing the Summer Learning Journey. 60 activities, you have accomplished such a massive achievement! You have also done your blog posts at a high standard. I kind of agree with you about making a list of names with their blog linked. It is kind of hard to find someone new to post a comment to. This has been a phenomenal journey for you! Enjoy the rest of your summer!

  9. Hi Victoria,
I liked how you said that there weren't any activities that you didn't like. I found it interesting that you would like a list of participants because it's hard for you to find people doing the programme. Are you going to partake in next year's summer learning journey?

    1. Hi Alex! I appreciate the feedback - I definitely think a list of names with their blog links would help me do a lot better with commenting next time. Although I'd really enjoy participating in the next Summer Learning Journey, it depends on how I'm feeling actually during those holidays...Thanks for asking!
