  •   If a mask from above falls, then pull the strap around your head. To make it more secure pull to more strings attached to the mouth part.

  • If needed life jackets are found under your seats. Rip back the tag to get it out, pull it over your head then clip the waist band. The red tab inflates your life jacket, for more inflation blow the mouth piece.

Summer Learning Journey- Choice of book

Image result for roald dahl matilda

For this activity there were 3 book options, Catching Fire(the hunger games #2), Roald Dahl Matilda and Diary of a wimpy kid- the ugly truth. Out of all of the three books I have chosen Roald Dahl Matilda because I find Roald Dahl books entertaining, interesting and usually funny. I’m not a  big fan of hunger games neither diary of a wimpy kid. I haven’t read much of both of the books to be honest.

Summer Learning Journey- Wordle

Sadly Wordle didn't work for me so I decided that I would still do this activity but on Tagul. Tagul is the closest I could get to Wordle.

Summer Learning Journey- Wellington

`If I were to visit Wellington the capital city of New Zealand I would love to see the Beehive  first with my friends and family because I have heard a lot of information about the Beehive and I think it would be reasonable to see it first. Then maybe go shopping at Good As Gold to see their taste in style. After that I may  just relax at a beach because why not?. Maybe even more but so far I would do all these 3 things first.

Summer Learning Journey- Opinion On BullFighting

Image result for Bull fighting

In my opinion I think that bullfighting should be banned, in fact I thought bullfighting should have been banned years ago. 1 because this cruelty to our animals/bull. This can also be very dangerous if things get out of hand, it can cause serious injuries if not professional or other. I did some re-search and found out it was not only bulls that found themselves in an arena also as horses! This is all the reasons I can think of that are most important why bullfighting should be banned. I hope you agree.

Scavenger Hunt Challenge

Yesterday morning at school our teacher decided for Rm 5 to have a Scavenger Hunt. The Scavenger Hunt was meant to increase our team work and to work collaboratively more.

We had to get into groups of 5. My team was-Florence,Raera,Ethan,Jayden and Te Rangimarie .Our first activity was to make a daisy chain. My group struggled at first but we still made it. The second activity was for someone to do a cartwheel while someone else takes a photo. Thirdly we measured how wide the court was in body length. My groups answer was 12.  We were then given a subtraction problem that we had to solve with a number line. Next we had to write down as many words as we could make with the word ‘observation’. We then went searching in the hall to find a oblong shape, we found a white table leaning against the wall. The we had to make a group letter or number, we chose to make the letter Y. We also had to go to the library and name 3 Geronimo Stilton books also as 3 Goosebumps.

Once we had finished that we had to run around our court twice then back to class. It was a exercise but my group and I had fun.

My Balloon Adventure

Up,Up and away I went, soaring high in the beautiful blue skies. I felt like I was undefeatable. Dancing like I was in a circus. A dozen balloons were carrying me. Everything went smaller and smaller while I was going higher in the air.
It soon became noon and I started flying far far away from my street, I was lost. Hopefully I could be traveling to America. Why? Because I’ve only lived in America for a short life and I think it would be AWESOME if I could experience it more. Also because I could visit more of my family. I would visit many things my parent told me about like Taco bell,Dollar tree and Walmart. They sounded like great shops.

Using U.P.S

Charmaine,Sakina,Victoria went to the Auckland zoo. They saw 7 Giraffes,10 Lions,24 spider monkeys and 9 Elephants.

                          How many animals did they
                               see altogether?

Important numbers and words in the question
U- 7,10,24,9 [altogether]

The important word that gives me the clue which operation to use
P-  Altogether [Addition +]

I will solve this problem using Place Value
S-  7 + 10 + 24 + 9
      9 + 7 = 16
      10 + 24 = 34
      16 + 34 = 50

The unicorn - Mythical Narrative

There once lived a unicorn who didn’t have any wings or any friends. She would usually  go lurking in the magical forest of  Never Land. Then one night while the unicorn was walking through the forests she saw an old lady in black clothing.

The old lady approached the unicorn with care. The unicorn stopped to examine her and she could feel her hand tingle and turn clammy. The lady in black told the unicorn that she could give her thousands of friends and special wings if she could have the unicorn’s horn. The unicorn was delighted with her offer and immediately said, “ Yes!”
The old lady took out a sharp pocket knife, and cut off the unicorn’s horn. The unicorn then reminded the lady of the bargain and expected to get what was promised but the old lady turned young and laughed.
“ You stupid horse, you’ve fallen for my trick.”
Next  she disappeared in a flash. The unicorn felt betrayed and she cried for days. Her tears formed a river in which she swam to drown her sorrows. She would lay in her bed hoping that one day she would gain confidence to go searching for friends.

“Knock knock”
The unicorn crept to the door and peeked through the tiny hole.  She slowly opened the door.
“Hello, My name is Amelia I’m new here*Shakes hand*Nice to meet you,”Amelia said politely.
They have a short conversation about being friends and why Amelia came to the village.
The unicorn never thought this day would come, she pinched herself to make sure she wasn’t sleeping. From that day on the two became great friends.

Narrative - Piha Beach

“Man! doesn’t Piha Beach just feel soo relaxing,” Roni gasps.
A couple of friends and I have just arrived at Piha Beach after walking for an hour. Ivy thinks that since Piha Beach is so famous that we will get famous being here too, so she dragged Roni and me along with her. Ivy went searching for video cameras while Roni and I had a little tan.

“HELP! HELP”
“Did you hear that sound? It’s like….Ivy,” Roni says in a worried voice.
“No, what? I don’t hear Ivy,” I say confused.
“HELP! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME”
“Wait…..wait a second I hear it...yeah that does actually sound like Ivy,”
Roni quickly gets up, turns around and wipes  the sunscreen off her nose.
“Look! It’s Ivy, it looks like she’s drowning in those  giant waves,” Roni shouts.
I get up and run to the nearest lifesaver.
“Sir, excuse me?” I ask politely.
“Yes, what is the problem?”
“My friend down there *points to Ivy* is drowning. Could you please help her.”
“Of course it’s my job.”
The lifesaver runs to Ivy and blows his whistle to get her attention. He then throws a seabiscuit at Ivy.
“Grab hold!” he shouts.
Ivy wipes away her tears.

When Ivy gets out,not to our surprise, her hands are trembling and she looks embarrassed. She runs to give the lifesaver a big hug.
“Thank you so much you’ve saved my life,” she says with joy.
“So… um how did you get in there?” I giggle.
“Well… long story,”
“I think we should be careful around these places and get some surfing lessons,”Roni suggests
“Great idea,” Ivy says.
We all giggle and head home.

Summary - Shipwrecked by Sharon Udy

I think this book was about a man who lived in Fiji, and who sailed out in the sea and then  far away from  shore. His boat soon started breaking down and sinking. He managed to grab a flipper to swim. He soon felt coral on his feet and knew that he must be on a reef. Then he thought to himself there must be a lagoon on the other side, then  land! .Later in the day he woke up on an island. He ate a couple of coconuts and found another island that was nearby so he swam and swam all the way there. When he finally made it to the island he realised there were people there. He  was later rescued from the island.

Grandma's house / Narritive

Mom drops me off at my grandma’s house because she thinks I need to spend more quality time with her. I gaze at grandma’s white and brown cottage. I notice paint peeling off the walls and windows. I could easily chip some of them off.
Ding dong. The door creaks opens with an irritating  sound.
“Hi grandma” I say with excitement.
“Hello darling it’s good to see you back again” grandma says. I see that grandma has gotten more frail since I last saw her. She uses a cane to walk.
“Poor grandma” I say to myself.
She says her eyesight is getting quite bad so she wears glasses now.She finally tells me that she has been living there ever since she was 16 and now she is 68.

The smell of freshly baked cookies tickles my nose. My mouth starts to salivate. Grandma is half way to the kitchen  and asks me in her kind, loving voice, “Are you hungry dear ? because I have just made some cookies from scratch”.
I was about to reply with YES! please that sounds delicious when BANG!. I also hear her cat Toby yell MEOW!. I run to see what all the ruckus was about when I see grandma on the floor near Toby’s tail. I stand frozen while staring at grandma. Toby purrs while rubbing his soft fur on grandma. I hold grandma’s hand and softly whisper, “It will be okay I’m here for you”. I can’t stand looking  at grandma in pain so I sprint to her old phone and dial 111. The ambulance soon arrives and sadly takes pook grandma away. My mom and I start to  flood with tears. While grandma is gone we treat Toby with pride and joy because he reminds us of grandma.

After a couple of days grandma is back home again ready to spread her love and joy to the world . She is a lot more careful and  looks out for things. Like Toby, other family members and I feel blessed that grandma is okay so we celebrate. We tried to buy grandma a new home but she says that the old cottage reminds her of her husband and father who had sadly past away.

Nonsense poem

My friend Claire the bear ate a pear

me a stare but I didn’t care the
air brushed my hair and a flare
of light of light made me a

My strategy to solve this problem

     T O
     26 + 44 =  70
    /   \    /
           20  +  6  + 4 = 10   20 + 50 = 70

I know that 26 has 2 tens + 6 ones. The 6 ones needs 4 more ones to make a tidy ten. So 20+10=30.From 30 I now need to get to 70.I know that 30 + 40 =70. So 40 + 4 =44.The answer The answer is 26+ 44=70.

Narrative

My friend Mavis and I had just arrived at Tamaki River. It was looking calm as ever.I realised how quite it was because all I could hear was myself breathing.

Mavis was looking at the sky naming what the clouds looked like when she stepped forward and tripped over  a rock. SPLASH! She was in the river. I panicked, so ran to look for help.

I found a bunch of empty milk bottles and chucked them to her to help her float. She grabbed hold of them and swam back. She couldn’t believe that she had fallen into the river. We left soon after that because we didn’t want anymore trouble.
