Scared,Surprised
For this activity I had to show how I might be feeling if someone in a foreign country came up to me and started to talk to me in their language. Then I would have to figure out how I could communicate with them. I think I would most likely be feeling scared and surprised.
Kia ora Victoria!
ReplyDeleteI think that you have captured your feelings of surprise/fear nicely in this photo. I usually cover my mouth when I am a bit shocked or surprised by something and I can see that you're doing the same thing :)
I have usually found that people are really friendly and want to help you as much as they can when you are a visitor to their country (even if you don't speak much English). It has surprised me, at times, that you can actually communicate pretty well with people non-verbally (i.e. without using words). I lived in Japan for an entire year and didn't speak much Japanese. I was able to get along with hand gestures, smiles and simple Japanese phrases. It was a wonderful year! It taught me so much about the power of non-verbal communication and the kindness of strangers.
I hope that you will enjoy your travels and meet lots of friendly locals who will help you out. I'm sure that your feelings of fear will quickly subside :)
Keep up the great work, Victoria. We still have a full week for the Summer Learning Journey programme so there is plenty of time for lots of great blogging :)
Cheers,
Rachel
