25 Word Summary | Fearfall BONUS Activity
This is the third/last activity for Day 1 and it is a bonus activity. For this activity I had to create a DLO and choose a ride from Rainbow's End then explain why I would recommended it to a friend I chose Sakina. Then I also had to put how I think I would feel on the ride and insert an image of the ride. I chose Fearfall. The photos I used were labeled for reuse I just didn't attribute them.

Stratosphere
For the second holiday blogging challenge I had to write what is the minimum height to ride the stratosphere which is one of the rides at Rainbow's End and then also write why I think there is a height restriction. To do this activity I created a google draw and also inserted an image which is not labelled for reuse because I wasn't able to find a picture of the ride that was labelled for reuse.

Rainbow's End
Our school leaders created there own Holiday blogging challenge that I participated in. This was the first activity, Rainbow's End. I had to create a DLO and I chose a google slide, showing the answers for the 3 following questions - where is Rainbow's End located, how much it costs for a family pass and how much would it cost for my own family to go. For the first question which was where is Rainbow's End located I had to go on google maps and find it then screen shot it then insert that onto my presentation. For the 2nd question I had to use my researching skills to find how much it is for a family pass and found 2 images that shows the prices so I also took screen shots of those. For the last question I used one of the images I found that showed the prices for a family pass and then worked out how much it would cost for my family to go which was simple.

Reading Log
Today I did another Daily 6 and for this daily 6 I did the reading log. Now I am on level 2 and I needed to include - WHO as in who the characters are, WHAT as in what are the events that happened, WHERE as in where did the events take place and WHEN as in when it took place this time. I summarised about the book Twinkle. Twinkle is book in our school library that is simple but interesting book and can be read to the juniors. I still recommend using this site but now try using it with Who, What, When and Where instead of Who and What like last times one which I was still on Level 1 of Reading Log. This can get you practising your summarising and writing be become better at it.

Subtraction Grids
Today for a maths can do I decided to play - Subtraction Grids. Subtraction Grids is a game where you can work on your subtraction, it asks you a question where it for example says - ? - 20 = 30 then you have to find out something take away 20 equals 30 so 50 then you press the check button if that is you final answer and it will tell you if it is wrong or right. You are also given a timer and a bunch of different questions similar to mine but different numbers. There are only 15 questions and depending how fast you get through the question whilst still getting them right you might be able to do them all. I almost got 15 but I got 13 out of 15 I think I was too slow but it was my first time. This game is really I suggest playing this sometime.

Maths Interactive Multiplication Grid
L.I: To problem solve.
This was another one of the task we had to do for maths. We had to create a google sheets and do the numbers to 10 because we will be multiplying up to ten. The way we times it, is the number that is horizontally to the box will be multiplied by the number that is vertically to the box. To see if our answer was correct it would turn green if it was wrong it would turn purple. How? - If we click on a blank box then press the "Format button" which is seen in the row of listed things under the title of the google sheet then there should be an option with "Conditional Formatting" which you click and it should then take you to "Conditional format rules" and the is a button that says "Cell is empty" click it, scroll down until you find "is equal to" and write underneath what ever it is equal to, the same process with if you get it wrong but instead of pressing "is equal to" press "is not equal to" and you are done. This did take a while to finish which it was suppose to but I still manage to complete it.

Electoral Process | Finding Information
L.I: To understand the electoral process.
Today for inquiry we are still focusing on the election topic. I have done an activity where you need to create a Padlet answering the following questions - What is an election? Why do we have elections? and What happens during an election? to see if you understand and know the electoral process. There is a site called Padlet where you do have to sign up but it for taking notes, brainstorming, learning and such. In the picture of my Padlet shown above I also put in the parties. On Padlet you can use different backgrounds and layouts.
Maths Mixed Problems
L.I: To problem solve.
For this and last weeks task we had to finish a google slide which had different mixed word problems we had to solve. This was the first task the most important one we needed to complete the next was we had to create a 3D shape using a provided site from our teacher and the last was a multiplication interactive grid made on a google sheets. One thing we had to keep in mind was that if one fails everyone fails so we needed to work together and for more help we were able to get a lesson on how to do something if we didn't understand or didn't know what to do. The google slide has different word problems we need to work out it could be multiplication, division, subtraction or addition. When writing our solution we needed to make sure we had correct working out, correct or Neat layout and the correct answer. The google slide shown above has all of my answers and how I worked it out. During this task I learnt about proportions and ratios and how difficult it can be sometimes to work together when if one person fails the rest does too.

Suffragette Flip Grid
L.I: To use your smart researching skills to help you find information.
Today for reading my group and I completed the last group task. We created a flip grid talking about our understanding and facts about the suffragette movement. To do this task we first created a google doc of a planning of what we we're going to be saying on the flip grid. We found some of the information from sites and from what we already know. We used a a site called flip grid where you can create videos of almost anything but we use it for our learning. On it, you only have a minute and a bit over and we all had to speak in it. We first rehearsed then recorded it on our teachers computer.

Addle
Today for a Maths can do I have decided to play Addle.
This game is about and will help you learn to find a way using different numbers to answer to another number that is already set for you. You are able to generate different equation if you would like too and it also tells you how long it took you so you can try and beat it. This activity can be found on transum. There are the already set answers and different amount of blank circles for each one which tells you how many you need to put. There are a bunch of scramble numbers inside the red circles placed on the blue side and you have to place them in the blank circles of where equation it goes in. If you got it wrong it will tell that once you have placed all of them and tell you just under it which ones are wrong. I wasn't able to check the time for mine because it only showed up with 0 but i'm sure it will work for you the picture shown above is my answers. If you do play this tell me how long it took you. This game was really fun and sometimes a difficult if you quickly try to do it. I do recommend this game for you to play if you want to work on maths or anything like this.

Kiwi Sport
Today we had Kiwi sport on the netball courts with Andy. We were still practising the Throw which is the last thing out of Run, Jump, Throw. The first activity we did was the Fruit game we had to get into 4 groups of 5 or 6 and choose a name of a fruit for our group name. In my group I had Alayah, Charlize, Sandra, Florence and Sakina our name was group cherries. We played in the center third of the net ball court. Each team had to go to on corner of the third and if for example said " Cherries, Bananas" Cherries would have to swap with Bananas we had to try and remember which team went where. In the center circle Our teacher stood there and his name was Fruit Bowl and if Andy called "Fruit Bowl" out all the groups would have to rush to the middle. Then we talked about last weeks discus and the techniques/skills for it. Andy told us about shot put which is similar to discus instead it is a ball and we have to have it "Dirt fingers, dirty neck, clean palm and elbows up"position. Like discus if you were right face the hall and if you were left face the other way. Then we have to get low into the chin, knee, toe all in a row position bring your self up and throw, you cant bring the ball of your neck. We only did this with a practise ball that was green. We kept practising this so we could get use to it. We got into pairs and one pair would try it then the next and repeat. Soon Run, Jump, Throw was over I had a really fun time doing shot put

Government Party Jigsaw
L.I: To be able to identify the leaders of the different parties.
Since election is coming up the class is doing an activity based off it and we did this activity where we had to find the different leaders for all the following different parties - Labour, Green, Maori, New Zealand first, Act, United Future and The opportunities. I made a copy of a google doc and inserted all the information I needed The party, name of the party leader, a photo of them, the logo and their Electorate. The photos I found were from google images and they were labeled for reuse, I also put in the attribution too so you can find it and where I got it from. The images I found were from Wikipedia of Wikimedia Commons. I was able to find out all this information from my researching abilities and skills I found it difficult to find an act logo so I created it myself on a google draw. This activity helped me learnt about all the different parties and leaders in New Zealand.

Kiwi Can
Today we had Kiwi Can in room 7 but with new Kiwi Can leaders, Mr Latu and Miss Peho. The first thing we did there was play a game like Bip Bop Bounce, like he told us when he points to you and says tiger you say Roar if he said buffalo then go ouuh and if he he said hey you say ho. If he was pointing to someone else but you still said it you had to sit down if you were to slow or didn't say it you also had to sit down. Then we got into a circle on the mat and just talked about some challenges we face at school. The activity we did was Target zone. To play Target zone there were 3 cones 1 that was ten points which was the closest to you then the second was 20 points which was a bit further than ten points cone then the last one was 50 points was more further away. We lined up into a boy line and a girl line against the wall. We also got a hula hoop which we used to throw over a cone. There was a blue ribbon that made a semi circle for where you were allowed to stand. We managed to score 230 points, We all only got one turn each. A few people missed out but that was okay, I only went for 10 because I didn't want to go for 50 then wasting my time by missing and getting no points for my team. In that game we had to use teamwork and work together and encourage each other. We are still focusing on self-discipline over coming our fears and emotions which is thoughts and feelings we have. The chant is - Step up your game, to get you there, challenges we face, we will not fear.

Suffragettes Reading Jigsaw
L.I: To find and compare similarities and differences between suffragettes around the world.
Today I am doing another activity from the Vote for women/ Suffragette topic, this is my second to last one I have completed the last one is a group activity which my group has almost finished. This task was in the Reading Frameworks called the Reading Jigsaw. We had to find the different suffragettes from different countries - New Zealand, Great Britain and United States of America. We had to write how long they were time active, what they were famous for and a Quote by them. I was able to do this by researching about it and I found the photos shown in the DLO on google images and they are Labeled for reuse. For Great Britain and United States Of America there were different options of suffragettes to choose from but I ended up choosing Emily Davidson and Anna Shaw. From this activity I learnt Who are some different suffragettes and about them.

General Knowledge France Term 3
L.I: To learn about the world around us.
Today for a reading must do I decided to do something different and do the Term 3 General Knowledge activity. To do this I went on the LS1 site and click on can dos then searched through the reading can do and found this task, I clicked on it and it took my to a Google slide where I had to make a copy of. You could choose either Term 1, Term 2, Term 3 or Term 4 we are in term 3 so I chose term 3. In term 3 there was different weeks you had to choose the week you were in I started this a while ago and it was in week 7 so I went to row 7 and there were 4 different options - France, Spain, Italy and Greece. These were all under - Europe. As you can see in the DLO I chose France. The task provided a whole bunch of questions and little tasks for you to complete some including to add a picture, all the pictures I used were labeled for reuse or I screen shot my results by myself because there were no need for a online image. Some also included me to speak so I was able to do that going on WeVideo and recording then inserting them on to the slide. When speaking in French which is the language in France I used help from Google Translate and when it came to doing other things where I didn't already know thee answer to I had to research about it online. General Knowledge is a really fun activity and can help you learn more about different places from all around the world. Specifically I learnt a lot about France because I needed to research so I found a lot of information and some that I didn't know.

Maori Language Week
Today we had Maori Language Week. When creating our DLO we had to include - Calender Refrences in maori, Singing Happy Birthday in maori, Greetings and our own pepaha. I did the activity by creating a google slide and making and having a slide for each topic. I worked in a pair who was Sakina. We added links to where you can hear us say whatever we put in maori so you can also know how it was pronounced. The only thing we did not include greetings. We were able to speak maori and type the words was by the help of translating a few words and researching, some of them we already knew. We made the videos on wevideo then dowloaded them and inserted them onto the google slide. We hope you enjoy our slide and learn something new like I did. I learnt more about maori like how to sing happy birthday and what a pepeha is and what it is.
Complete Maths Artwork
L.I: To create piece of art using reflection, translation and rotation.
This week Mr Wong's group finally were moving on from planning and actually started to create the art piece. In my art work I used Pastels, Paint and dye. I chose the colours Orange, Blue and Green. When we first drew our pattern on the white plain piece of paper we first had to make a template then draw out 9 of them. We had to be very slow and careful to make the design or else it would come out to rushed and squiggly and wobbly lines. Then the next step once we have finished was to colour them all in. The first few I coloured with paint, the next I coloured with pastel then the last I coloured in dye. This was really fun but took quite amount of time and we didn't have that much time for maths so we did have to finish it quickly. I was able to finish mine. The picture shown above is what mine turned out looking. I changed the places of a few pieces of paper but that is alright.

20 Word Summarising
L.I: To explain in fewer words what the text is about.
For another task from the suffragette movement topic, my group and I have done one of the group challenges. We planned to do this a week ago. In this task we had to list 20 words based we got off some sites. We had to do this indivdualy then as a group we discussed and chose 6 important words with the help of the teacher. then we all went away and made 3 sentences using the 6 words. We read 3 texts about the vote for woman. We wrote the sentences and words from a google slide called Reading Frameworks and made a copy of that. On the google slide it had a bunch of different slides but there was one that had a big box that had Summarising on it and the Learing Intention next to it. The slide had a template with 3 rows which said - write down 20 important important words from the text, the next one had Choose the 6 MOST important words and the last one had Use those 6 words to sumup the text in a few sentences. We only had to do 3 sentences. In the DLO you can see that my group and I chose the words Suffragette, Vote, Debate, Government, Change and gender.

Today I commented on Kiras blog. I commented on her Technology Reflection post. I think she did good job. I liked how she inserted images to go with the short blurbs she put of what she thought she could work on, what she learnt, some of the things she found challenging and she also said thank you to the viewers. I also like the taste of muffins, cinnamon and Jam. I was curious about what her muffin actually turned out looking and if it was cooked good because if you search for (Jam and Cinnamon Muffin) you are able to find the image she used. Coggle Speech Brain Storm
L.I: To create a persuasive speech
This week for writing we Brain stormed about our 2-3 minute speeches. We did this on a site called Coggle.it. In my planning I talked about - Facts and Statistics, A solution to my argument or POV, What might/may happen if we stop and of course my opinion/POV. My Topic was Smoking and my argument was Stop people from smoking. From the last writing task we did there were 3 topics and I chose No Smoking. My teacher talked to me about that topic so I would be able to write about it. I think that we should stop littering was another important one, but I have done that many times before so I wanted something different so I chose no smoking which is something that I also find important. I learnt more of being able to brainstorm or plan about a speech and some things that are persuasive to include in them.

Haiku Poem
L.I: To write a poem about feelings.
Today for inquiry we were finally able to write our own independent poems. It could be a limerick poem, diamante poem, Haiku poem or a cinquain poem. First we learnt about these poems and chose which one we would do, I did a Haiku poem. I did my Haiku poem a a site specifically made for it. A Haiku poem is a Japanese poem and a season, I chose winter, our poem still had to be about feelings, mine was upset. We could choose a background and font to our poem if we had finished and if we had liked. The image shown above is mine. A Haiku poem has 5 syllables in the first row 7 syllables in the 2 row and 5 syllables again in the last row. This activity was pretty fun and I enjoyed it. I learnt about 4 different types of poems.

Suffragette Movement POV
L.I: To make connections, identify main ideas, summarise, evaluate and synthesising facts through learning conversations. For reading I have decided to do this POV activity which is still based off the topic "Suffragette". This task was very simple, we had to just write our opinion/POV on the Suffraggtte movement. I did this activity in a buddy, Nyjah. We had to also include some injunctions. We only had to include some conjunctions, we knew the conjunction we we needed to add because there was a site that was also to find them. I learnt to do this task by reading about this topic then writing what I think about it.

Maths Art Planning
L.I: To create a piece of art using rotation, translation and reflection.
This week for maths we have been planning out artwork that we will soon be making. We got into groups and looked at an example of the art that we will be making which is similar but maybe a different symbol. We got into groups and planned out what we what we would use or need to make it and more. The DLO shown is mine. I found the pattern online. I made my art work on a google draw. I choose 3 colours and made sure I included reflection, translation and rotate. The background (suppose to be a sheet of paper) is black. Everything I got was from the example of the sheets of artwork we had seen. If the background was dark the pattern would be the lighter version and the same thing around, if the background was light the pattern would be a darker version. In the artwork there was also patterns, see if you can spot them.
Poetry Patterns and Features
L.I: To identify vocabulary and language features for use in writing a poem.
Today for inquiry we made posters showing the Language features in a poem. We did this activity in pairs, my pair was Mele. Before creating our own posters we were shown what to do as an example from Mr Wong. Then we created a google draw. Through this week week of poetry we have read a lot of poems, 20 to be in fact and we had to choose 1 to write about. We had to show the poem and make a text box which showed what patterns or features that poem had. We chose the dessert poem shown in the DLO. It had a type-of-poem which had a pattern of types of words. Then we also put the language features it had by showing it with coloured x's. Then we lastly decorated it. I learnt the language features and patterns a poem can have.

Sketchnote
L.I: To create a Sketch note that shows your understanding.
This week for reading, we are learning about "Votes for women/Suffragette movement". There are many activities/ task to do that are based off this topic and this was one of them, the second one I have completed. We made sketch notes showing our understanding, the definitions of the words Suffragette, Radical, Change and Vote. To do this we made a copy of a google draw which had a lot of shapes and arrows set out already so we could choose a box to write a definition of a word in. We could adjust and move the shapes and arrows around to how ever we wanted it. If you search up sketch note and go on images you will see that it also includes some pictures and images so I made a drawing to go with the topic and my sketch note. For this activity I again worked independently. I learnt about how to make a sketch note and what it is.

Tongan Language Week
Today we had Tongan Language week. I am already half Tongan but I am not an expert at it. The people who were good at speaking Tongan we number the groups from 1 to 6 and everyone else was number offed into one of the groups. I was in group one and the group one leader was Miiana in the group was Nyjah, Jonathan, Giovanni, Aden. We all got onto our chromebooks and clicked on this google draw from the LS1 site - Tongan Language week. We played a few games where you can learn Tongan then got into a pair with someone from our group and we created a DLO of what we learnt. My pair was Aden, first I was working with Sakina we were going to do a recipe that I have had before, `Otai but then we realised it had to be someone from our group. Aden and I talked about was numbers to 10, some different colours and some animals. If you practise these words and play some games to learn the language then you may be able to speak a little Tongan. I learnt a few more Tongan words.
Persuasive Speech Planning Ideas
L.I: To create a persuasive speech.
Today for writing we planned out a speech. We did this by watching a video about persuasive. We planned some topics on a padlet made for our group. Then we had to make 3 copies of the speech planning from on a the writing LS1 site and write about 3 topics we planned from the group padlet. The speech planning was a google doc with lots of questions asking about that topic. We had to be prepared for which one we wanted to do the most. I learnt about what you need to have a good argument.

Kiwi Can
Today LS1 had Kiwi can with Mrs Latoya and Mr Malu in room 7. The theme is still self control and self discipline. Being able to control our emotions and actions and overcoming our weaknesses. The first activity we played was bip bop bounce I game that we know because we have played before. The rules are simple Mrs Latoya or Mr Malu would stand in the middle of our circle and point to someone and say Bip Bop Bounce. You have to react quick and say Bang before she can say bounce then you can standing, how ever if you are late then you sit down. If Mrs Latoya or Mr Malu was pointing at someone else, but you still call out bang then you are out and sit down. Then we discussed about what the word risky meant and some risky situations. The last activity we did before leaving back to LS1 to have our morning tea was to try and fit everyone in the circle. Mr Malu and Mrs Latoya tied 2 skipping ropes together and formed a circle with it. We had to try to find a way to fit everyone inside. There were 4 levels to it. In our first few attempts we tried fitting everyone and there whole bodies inside, but Mr Malu and Mrs Latoya said it doesn't have to be every ones body. She meant it could be a body part like an arm or leg, a finger and etc. It would get smaller and smaller each round and on the last one we struggled to fit Liane's hand on but suddenly the bell rang and Kiwi can was over.

Reading Log
L.I: To summarise and retell something.
Today for a Daily 6 I did Reading Log. To do it I went on the LS1 Daily 6 site and looked through the level 1 task and found this. I clicked on the link which lead me to a google doc and I made to make a copy of it. The reading log is about practising our summarising to get better . It had 3 colums all together for one story one colum to write the book title, the second colum to write the date and the summary of that book. If you are doing level 1 the main things you need to do is Who as in who are the characters and What for in what happened. I read the book Nest and the Missing Zero and do recommend it for you to read and this task if you struggle with your summarising. I know if I do more of this I will get better at retelling a book in my own words and manage to find it simple when I do need to do it.

Story Starters
Today for a writing can do I decided to play Story Starters. I got this game from the LS1 can do site then looked through the options of the writing can do I seen this which I have played before and enjoyed it. Story starters is a game where you can practise making up a story with already chosen topics. There are already 4 different types of stories you can have so the things to make your story would be based of the type of story you want. There is Adventure, Fantasy, Sci-Fi and the scrambler. For my story I chose Fantasy. To make the story you press the spin button then it will generate 4 words which you will have to include in your story then a next button will come up in the right corner and if you want you can change or leave it. The next button takes you to if you want to write your story in a notebook, letter, newspaper or post card I chose notebook and there is a option if you want to include a drawing to the story or not. If you wanted, tick the box, if not leave the box I didn't want a drawing so I left the box. Then you can finally write your story and once your done press ALL DONE! and your finished. I got - Write about a legend with a dreadful phoenix whose invisibility cloak rips in half and this was my story - There is a legend from years ago... The Phoenix. Here is the story of it. It all began one dark stormy and windy night, an old, mean and cranky pheonix layed asleep in bed. He was woken to the sound of thunder near by. He grumpily stood up and walked his was to his front door, unlocked it "wait!" he said and put on his magical invisibility cloak, he never took one step out of his house without wearing his invisibility cloak. He planned to fight this thunder with his magical powers. While fighting the thunder one struck exactly in the middle of his cape causing it to rip in half. The pheonix suddenly fell to the ground (He was still fighting the thunder in the air). He seen his cape was ripped and felt a tear drip down his eye, he felt that his cape was a huge part of him. He was actually gifted that cape by his great great great great great great grandfather. The thunder felt bad and stopped, the special cloud seen it happen and repaired the cape. The pheonix was very thank full and they all lived happily ever after.

Blog Commenting
Today I commented on Kaitlyn's blog. I commented on her Raz Kids post. I think she did pretty good job. I liked how she explained what the site Raz kids is about and a image of it. I can also go on Raz kids because of I have an account, but in the post she said what book she read but not what it was about. There is nothing wrong with that but it maybe be better to give a summary about the story because there are chances that the viewers do not have a Raz kids account.

Kate Sheppard
L.I: To make connections, identify main ideas, summarise, evaluate and synthesise facts through learning conversations.
Today for reading we made DLOs about what we know about Kate Sheppard. We are given different task about this one topic - suffragettes and this was the one of them, and the first one to do. We already know a little bit about this because we have done a little bit of this with Ms Anderson already, we are just carrying on from there. To do this task I made a google draw and researched about Kate Sheppard. I inserted a labled for reuse photo of her just for those who don't know what she looks like. During this task I learnt a lot more about Kate/Katherine Sheppard but I couldn't fit as much information I wanted to about her.

How to make a 3D shape
L.I: To create my own 3D shape.
Today for maths we made videos showing how to make a 3D shape. I made the video in a pair with Sakina. She was demonstrating what to do and I was giving a voice over. We made a 3D square/cube. We made this video on clip champ because we are able to pause the video. We already planned what we would use in the video and what I would say. The things needed to make the shape: Ruler, Rubber, Cardboard and Scissors. In the post it also shows my shape with the capacity, it was a rectangular prism.
Pixel Art
Today for Daily 6 I decided to do Pixel art level 1. I drew a pencil because I thought it seemed simple. I got the pixel art paper from inside the class from this white box. I searched this image online and I used a pencil, colouring pencils, a ruler and an eraser just in case. The pencil to out line the image, colouring pencils to colour in, a ruler to make sure the lines are straight and an eraser if I made a mistake. This was a really fun task
