Fireworks Saftey

L.I: To identify the ways we can stay safe with fireworks.
This week LS1 went up to LS2 so we could learn more about Guy Fawkes day which is on Sunday this week and to learn how we can be safe with fireworks because that is how some of us celebrate it. After Ms. Anderson explained to us about the man named Guy Fawkes, we had to get into a group of 4 with 2 LS1 students and 2 LS2 students. I worked with Sakina, Zahra and Shakai. We first asked questions based off Guy Fawkes to each other before anything else. Then everyone watched a video which was about a teen who was holding fireworks before they went off. It didn't end well for the teenager and they had to go to the hospital. He lost a lot of their body parts and got injured very badly but he still managed to survive. Then in our group or in a pair we had to create a DLO listing 3 or more ways we can be safe with fireworks. My group listed 8 and we used a google slides. We also used an images for each one of the slides. We only had a little amount of time to finish to finish off the DLO because the LS1 students had to head back to LS1 soon. I wasn't able to finish publishing this at school but I had to get it up before Guy Fawkes day because fireworks are very dangerous. Remember to be safe on Sunday, follow all the rules we listed and any more if you know some and be responsible!

QAR Questions

L.I: To use a range of comprehension to go deeper into a text.
This week for reading Mr Os readings group got to answer the QAR questions we made for our groups. I decided to work on the Well Being questions Mr O made for our group since there wasn't enough people to work on it. Nyjah and I moved the question into the boxes we thought it would go in. Either - right there, think and search, author and you and on my own. After all the thinking, the image shows where we put all the 10 questions.

Free Rice

Today I played free rice. I have played this game before, basically you can donate rice to those who are in need for food by just answering questions. Each question you get right 10 grains of rice is donated. I managed to donated 500 grains of rice. I really enjoy this game because just by getting answers write you are helping someone, so with that I really recommend you to play this game and help world hunger. Click the link.

Blog Commenting

Today I commented on Sila's blog. I commented on her kiwi sport post. She did some amazing work. I thought she she had a great description of what LS1 did at kiwi sport with Kevin whilst I was gone at inter school touch rugby. I haven't met Kevin yet because I wasn't able to be there for last week and this week kiwi sport but it is okay. I also liked how all of her sentences did make sense and how she made it on a google drawing. I do think that there is a lot of empty space on it but that is alright. I wanted to know who her partner was and how she felt at kiwi sport.

Emergency Services

L.I: To look at more than one information source when researching.
This week for inquiry we had to get into a group of six. Then from that group, choose a pair to work with and my pair was Avalon. Each pair from the group had to make a copy of a google slide and pick 2 of the emergency services - Police, Fire, Ambulance, Search and Rescue, Surf Lifesavers and Armed Service. My buddy and I did Ambulance and Armed Service. On the google slides it had a bunch of a little things we had to do like find facts, sites, an image questions and even make up our own questions. I learnt to find information about emergency services.

Punctuation

L.I: To revise recount writing
This week we had our actual e-asttle writing test that we have been training for. We had to write about a time with friends. After the 40 minutes was over Mr Os writing groups got to mark there own work. For the must do we had to pick one of the 7 markings on the rubric- Ideas, Structure and Language, Organisation, Vocabulary, Sentence Structure, Punctuation or Spelling. I chose punctuation  We then had to create a DLO based off of the one we chose and write about what it is. I chose a google drawing because I thought it was best to use for this.

Kiwi Can

This week Wednesday LS1 had kiwi can with Mr Malu and Ms Latoya in room 7. The first activity we did was called knots. I have played the game before an inquiry lesson in term 3. For this activity the class had to be split into 3 groups then each of the groups had to get into a circle. Everyone in the group needed to raise there right hand and grab a different persons hand that is not besides you, so basically the  person opposite to you or something like that. Then do the same with your left hand. You can't hold the same persons hand you did with your right hand. Then when everyone did that, we had to untangle ourselves so that the person that we were holding hands with, is now besides you. My group struggled a lot and through all of the rounds, we weren't able to untangle ourselves. Moving on to the next activity we did, we went outside on the field which was next to room 7. Mr Malu said this game was like net ball. We stayed into our 3 groups but we needed to pick a leader from our group. Most of my group voted for me but I wanted Sandra to be the leader. Ms Latoya talked to our leader - Sandra, and told her what we need to focus on so she could tell us. For the first few rounds we had to focus on encouragement. A net ball was included in this game. One team would start with the ball and the other team had to defend. There were 4 cones and if you went out of those cones then you had to hand over the ball to the other team. We could tell which team was which because one team had a blue strap. We had to pass it to each other with out having the ball taken away by the other team because they will then have the ball. To win, a team had to get 5 taps with the ball.
