New Zealand's History

Yesterday for reading, Mr Ogilvie's groups went up to LS2 to work with Mrs. Anderson's group since she is doing something similar to what Mr Ogilvie's groups were doing. We learnt about New Zealand's history and maori past life. I got into a group with Nyjah, and Sakina. We went on a site which had information about New Zealand and maori history. We were told to think about some questions you would like to know the answer to, then later the groups were called to the mat and gave their questions which were then wrote on the board. I learnt much interesting facts and information about New Zealand from the 1840s then stopping at 2010 by skimming and scanning through the information to find the main idea in that text and explaining in my own words.

Questions my group thought about -
What did Wherowhero do, to become the first moari king? Who chose him to be king?
Why did the states of Australia offer the New Zealand to join them and become the common wealth with them? Why did the New Zealand respond with no?
Who allowed people to vote secretly? Who thought of the idea?
What made the men decide to let adult women vote?
Why was Francis Henry the first prime minister for only 2 weeks?

The site we used to to get our information:  The New Zealand Parliament.
