Unfair or Fair Over-fishing | Activity 1 (Day 5) - Summer Learning Journey | WEEK 2

This was Activity 1 for Day 5 of Week 2 in the Summer Learning Journey programme. For this activity I had to say what I think about about the rule for over-fishing. One part of water that has been fished in too much without being replaced is called over-fished. Fishers who are caught fishing in the areas are over-fishing and as the rule, are required to pay 100,000$. I feel that this rule is fair and unfair in a way. Fishers should know better to not fish in an area of low amounts of fish. The only left fish are being caught and less would be produced. People need to owe what they have taken in payments, but I feel 100,000$ is maybe too much but just the right amount at the same time.

  1. Hello Victoria
I am Vitaraag. I agree with you. But I don't understand what it is a good amount and it is also to expensive amount. Maybe next time you could tell us more about the idea so we can understand more about over fishing.

  2. Kia Ora Victoria,

Thanks for sharing your blog post about over-fishing. I agree with your statement 100%. The image that you have looks good. I like it how you've added a lot of reasons towards this topical issue. I know right 100,000 is a lot.

    Nice One!

  3. Kia Ora Victoria,

Well done for explaining what overfishing is and for expanding on your reasons why. That means people who might not understand what overfishing is can get a better idea of what it is and how it affects New Zealand. Did you know that there are daily limits and minimum sizing requirements for fishing here in New Zealand. The amount of fish you can get also changes depending what region you are in, because the fish population is different in different regions. Can you think of why that might be?

    Blog ya later!
