L.I: Having a point of view and constructing an argument.
L.I: Structure of an Argument.
Today for writing we made videos showing If we disagree or agree with the subject - Technology in School. Sakina, Nyjah and I agreed with having technology in school and Jack, Julian and Alex disagreed. We made the videos by going on a site called Flip Grid where you could also insert images. These were just hypothetical which means not real and we were doing this to practise a the doing an argument. We already planned what we were going to say on a google doc so when it started to recorded we could go back to the tab and read it. It had to be a minute long. Click the link to watch mine and my groups arguments.
I learnt how to build up an argument and what need to have a good argument

Kiwi Sport
Today LS1 had kiwi sport Run, Jump Throw with Andy on the school netball court. We still are focusing on our Jumping skills. The first thing we played was Volcanoes and Valleys. There was a bunch of yellow and white cones set out on the court and we were split into 2 teams Valleys and the Volcanoes. The cones were randomly put upside down or the correct way, the Valleys had to flip as much of the cones that were the correct way to the upside down way and the Volcanoes had to flip as much of the cones the upside down way to the correct way. Then we would swap the rolls around. Then we learnt about the scissor kick technique for when you do high jump. To do this this technique you need to kick you legs up twice high in the air, face you feet up and bend your knees slightly. You need to run up fast and do the scissor kick quickly so you can push of and have more speed and power. We practised this by jumping over plastic yellow poles suppose to be practise high jump poles. After a few tries we could tell Andy to adjust the sticks however we wanted, high, low anything.

Kiwi Can
Today LS1 went down to room 7 for kiwi can with Ms Latoya. We were still focusing self control, self discipline and resilience. The first game we activity we did was called hand circle. We had to get into a circle then lay down on our stomachs. Ms Latoya instructed to put out hand out. Then taking your right hand and putting it over the persons hand on the right side of you. Then putting our left hand over the persons hand who was on the left of you. Ms Latoya would either start left or right. For example we will say she started left she would tap her left hand then the person next to her, they had to take their left hand and tap it then etc until it went all around the circle then back to Ms Latoya If you did it incorrect you had to put one hand away. If someone tapped there hand twice you had to go the other direction. Then we played Bip, Bop, Bounce which was a game we have played before in Kiwi Can. We had to get into a circle once again and Ms Latoya had to stand in the center then point to someone and sat Bip, Bop, Bounce. Before Ms Latoya says Bounce you have to say bang before her. If your to late you had to sit down on the matt which meant you were out. If Ms Latoya didn't complete saying the whole thing to you but you still said bang that means you had to sit out. Then if she wasn't pointing to you but still said bang then you had to sit down. The chant for this theme is - Keep it real, Keep it true, Self control will see you through.

Blog Commenting
Today I commented on Ellenora's blog. I commented on her Hauora Post. It was very well done. I thought she had a nice simple but detailed sentence of what Physical meant in Hauora meaning and the Maori way to say it which is Taha Tinana. I liked the pictures she inserted to go with it. I had to do the same task as her so I knew what this blog post was about. 1 thing is that she missed out the Learning Intention which is probably a big part in a blog post.

Tables Conga
Today for a Maths can do I played Tables Conga. Tables conga is a game where you can learn to find times tables in order. I played 4 times tables. For example if you were doing the 4 times tables like me, you have to find the 4 times tables in order starting from 4 then 8 and etc. You have to do this before the grey x touches you or your line of time tables. If it does you have to restart. In this game you can practice your times tables and still have a enjoy yourself too. This game was really fun and I enjoyed so you might too, click the link to play this game!

Raz kids - The Moon Bowl
Today I went on Raz Kids and read the book - The Moon Bowl. This book is about a princess who wanted to marry this prince. She told her father/ the king and he decided that the prince would have to get the "lady"on the moon to tip the bowl which poured water and there for it would rain on earth because over there it hasn't rained in a while. The prince also wished to marry the princess so he did what he was told. When he arrived at the moon he seen an old man with a stick drawing in the dust. He said he was drawing the stars so he could put them in order because that was his job. The prince asked the old man where was the lady who tips the moon bowl. The old man stopped for a while until speaking once again. He denied knowing about knowing where she was nor who she is but seemed to know so much about the moon bowl. The prince starting thinking he was the one who pours the moon bowl. When the prince crouched down the old man hopped on so it was as if it was a piggyback then the old man magically his stick they arrived under the giant moon bowl. The old man also led him to the rim of the bowl where the prince wanted to go. The prince asked the man how could he tip the bowl, the old man said just with another wave of my stick, so then when he did so it poured it slowly down. After that the prince for sure knew that it was the old man job, he was the one he tipped the bowl. The old man got mad which made the bowl to shake causing him to fall inside and the prince to fall out onto the ground and so did the old mans stick. The prince used the stick to get back at the kings palace. The king was very happy with the prince so he allowed him to finally marry his daughter/ the princess.

Possum Poster
L.I: to separate fact from opinion.
L.I: to identify the main ideas in a text.
Today for reading we made posters about possums showing if we would rather keep them or not and why. I made google draw and inserted some pictures to go with it. I think that possums should be killed because they are eating our native plants and animals and they are able to spread diseases. I learnt this by researching about possums and found pictures online which were labeled for reuse and put them on. During the task I learnt a lot of facts about possums like how there are about 30 million of them in New Zealand.
4 Walls In Hauora
L.I: To identify the 4 Dimensions in Hauora.
Today fro inquiry we made an animation or video showing the good and bad examples for each of the 4 dimensions - Physical, Social, Emotional/Mental and Spiritual. We had to get into groups of 3-4, in my group I had Avalon, Sandra and Mele. We chose to make a video. We showed what a good example of what one of the dimensions then a bad example. Before showing the examples we explained what the dimension meant and the maori name for it.

Point Of View Chart
My Groups Opinions -
L.I: What is point of view
For writing this week we had to create a google doc and write 2 paragraphs about our point of view on a topic. Then we had to share that google doc to everyone in our group so they could read it and see what their opinions were on it. They were able to share there opinions and point of views with me from the google draw I created and shared with them which had 4 boxes so everyone could write there names in the box so I know who thinks what. Since our group had 5 people to write their opinions and there was only 4 boxes 2 people had to do both of their point of views in the same box. Everyone in the group had to do this. They would either agree or disagree. I chosen to show you my groups opinions on my work. I learnt to share what I think and why on others point of views with mine.

Fact Or Opinion & Main Idea Summary Frame - The Island
L.I: To separate fact and opinion.
L.I: To identify the main ideas in a text.
Today for reading we watched 2 clips from a movie and summarised them and found 4 facts and opinions from them. To do this we had to watch 2 videos. Then we had to make a copy of a google draw that had 4 boxes on one side and 4 boxes on the other side to do 4 facts we found from the movie scene and 4 opinions we found in the movie scene. We also had to make a copy of a google doc which had a template of 4 rows so we could put what we thought the main idea was, One example of a supporting detail, and another example of supporting detail then what we thought was clearly the main idea and why we thought that. We had to choose one to publish so I decided to publish my " The Island" which is the 2 images seen above.

Kiwi Sport
Today for kiwi sport today we worked on our jumping skills since we have done run out of run, jump, throw so we are now doing jump. The first game we played was leap frog. It was like stuck in the mud. To play Andy chose 5 people to be the taggers. Then the other people could run around the 2 thirds of the netball court. Taggers had to try to tag the other people. If you got tagged you had to get into a ball like frog. Someone could get you back in only if they leap over you, like leap frog. However if you crossed the line of the 2 thirds you were out and had to be automatically tagged. Then Andy taught us the what not to do's and the what to do's to jump properly. To do that, you need to have your legs shoulders width apart, bend your legs, swing your arms so it gives you more power when you push off and look straight. Then another trick Andy taught us was the motorbike jump. We practised doing it by jumping then landing in a position as if you were sitting in a motor bike by squatting down and your straight out. Then we played another activity which was relay. This game was to practise our jumping and how well we can do it. We had to get into teams of 6. Then the person in the front had to do jump like Andy taught us and try to get as far as you can. The next person who was behind the first person would then stand beside the person who jumped then do the exact same thing they did, do the jump like Andy taught us and still try to get as far as they could. Then the process repeated again and again until it was the last person. Then Andy would see which team got the furthest. Lastly we played rock paper scissors. Andy split us into 2 groups. There was circled pads placed around forming a semi circle. The first person in each group had to start on one of the pads and do a proper jump on as much pads as they can until they reach the other person. Then the 2 people played rock paper scissors to see who lost. The person who lost went to the back of the line again and the winner can keep jumping on the pads until they reach the end of the other teams pads then they go back to there team or or someone else comes along and them two will have to rock paper scissors and etc.

3D Shape - Planning
L.I: To create my own 3D shape with a different capacity from the volume.
Today for maths we made plans of a 3D shape that we would be making. To do this we had to pick any 3D shape. I chose a rectangular prism. Then we drew out the shape as a net version of it, the net had to have tabs for wherever the places that we needed to be folding on so we could fold and glues the tabs down so we could easily connect them with the other side it needs to held together with. The shape had to have a capacity too so I added extra folds. The capacity for my shape was 8cm, 1cm and 3cm then the volume for my shape is 3cm, 8cm and 3cm again. We had to make a schedule to for when we would complete certain things. On Monday I completed my planning, on Tuesday I found my volume and capacity, on Wendesday I found all my measurements that I needed, then on Friday I need to actually draw and cut out my shape on the cardboard, and lastly on next week Monday and Tuesday I will finish off my work that needs to be done then blog my finished product. I learnt to find and make the capacity for a shape and the capacity and volume need to be different. To find the capacity you need to multiply the width, height and depth like how you find the volume.

Kiwi Can
Today LS1 had Kiwi Can in LS1 with Mr Malu. For kiwi can our theme is still self control and resilience. Self control means being able to manage your emotions and actions and Resilience means coping and bouncing back with challenges. The first game we played was Defender. To play defender the whole class was split into 4 groups. I was in group 3 and in group 3 was Angela, Marieta, Chavda, Liane, Viliami, Nevaeh, Hosea, Matthew, Jack, Alex, and Julian. Everyone had to get into a circle and spread the legs and make sure there foot was touching the other persons foot who was next to them. We had to put one hand behind our backs and the other hand will be used to defend. In each group they were given a tennis ball. When Mr Malu said go someone would roll the ball towards someone and tried to hit the ball in between their legs. You had to use the one had not put behind your back to defend and make sure the ball doesn't go into your space. If it does then you are out and you could sit down. If it didn't you would then have the ball and you could try to get someone else. In the same groups we were all given a piece of paper a marker to write with. Mr Malu would ask a question and as a group we would discuss it and someone would write it down. Then we played another game, where the whole class sat in a circle and were numbered off 1 to 4 by Mr Malu. Then when Mr Malu called out a number from 1 to 4 that group of people who were numbered that number would stand up and go into the middle of the circle. Mr Malu would give someone this white, blue and red ball so they could try to get us out by rolling it to us, and if it touched us we were out and had to sit back down. If it didn't touch you and the ball rolled to someone else they could try hitting someone with the ball. We didn't have much time because it was going to be morning tea time so we only got to play about 3 or 2 rounds of that until the bell rang.

Hauora - Physical
L.I: To identify Hauora and the 4 Dimensions.
Today for inquiry we made info graphics showing the definitions of the 4 dimensions in Hauora. To do this task we had to watch a video of someone explaining the meaning of the different dimensions in Hauora. After that we had to get into a group of 4 and each person created a google draw showing an info graphic of our definitions of each of the definitions. An info graphic is something which has a small amount of writing but a lot of pictures. The 4 dimensions are - Physical, Social, Spiritual, and Emotional/ Mental. I created the Physical info graphic and also included the Maori word for Physical Health which is Taha Tinana. Physical means the why we look after our bodies, how the grow and develop and the different foods and liquids we eat and drink. I learnt Hauora and the 4 dimensions.

Key Board Drills Level 2
Today for a writing Daily 6 I decided to do my Key Board Drills again, but this time on level 2. For this Daily 6 task I made a copy of a similar google doc but different words and punctuaction. This google doc was on the LS1 Daily 6 level 2 writing site. Like before it had letters, words and punctuation in a colum then a blank colum below so we could copy what the writing had using the correct fingers. I do still struggle doing this, but feel like I am slightly getting better at it. I am also still trying to get use to putting my fingers in the positions.

Raz kids - Spare the Turkey
Today I went on Raz Kids and read the book - Spare the Turkey. This book is about a boy who is tolled by his mother that he is having thanks giving with vegetarians. He was shocked, they weren't going to have turkey! How could their be no turkey on thanks giving? He was surprised, because when he arrived there was a table with a big bowl of salad on it, mash potatoes, yams and etc. He tried the vegetarian turkey that was there, but he thought it tasted nothing like turkey. Then when he tried the salad he loved it. He thought it tasted Delicious. On the way to their house, Darryl's mother told him he will be surprised when they arrive. At first he doubted it, but after trying the salad he agreed.
Free Rice
Today for a Writing Can Do, I played free rice. Free rice is a game where you can donate rice to hungry people from around the world for free. You donate just by answering the question correctly. Every question you get right, you provide 10 grains of rice. This is a really cool game, because if you think about it you can be saving people's lives, improving on different things, and learning from it all at the same time.

Stationary Value Pack Tv Ad
This week for writing, the writing groups had to make adverts on a product for kids at our age. We came up with the name Stationary value pack. The Stationary value pack is stationary in a pencil case, it comes with Pencils, Pens, Rubbers, Ruler, colouring pencils and high lighters. We recorder the ad in the small room next to LS1.
Tv Chicken & Chips Ad
LI: to demonstrate understanding of persuasion and influence.
Today for inquiry, we had to make a poster or an ad to persuade people into to doing what you want. If you made poster it was pretending to persuade people to vote for you to be the prime minster, and if you made an ad it was persuading people to buy your object or fast food. I created this ad in a pair with Avalon. Our fast food we picked was Chicken & Chips and named our store - A n V's Chicken & Chips. We got our images from finding them online and getting our teacher to print it out. We cut the images out and cut out a little bite mark with scissors to pretend that she took a bite out of it. I learnt the definition of influence and how I can show it.

Today for a writing Daily 6 I decided to do my Key Board Drills on level 1. This task is to get me typing more quickly and being able to copy words, letters and different punctuation faster with using the correct fingers for it. For this Daily 6 task I made a copy of a google doc on our LS1 Daily 6 level 1 writing site. It had letters, words and punctuation in a colum then a blank colum below so we could copy what the writing had using the correct fingers. Although I do still struggle doing this, I'm sure more practise will get me better at it. I learnt the correct way of where you should put your fingers on a key board.

Raz Kids - Eleventeen
Today I went on Raz Kids and read the book - Eleventeen. This book is about a girl named Sarah who thought that being 10 was boring, although her 11th birthday was so close to coming up. She wanted to be a teen. She wrote down a T-Chart of what a teen does, and what an Evleven year old does. She seen the things were quite similar, she could earn money by babysitting her brother little brother Noah and earning money, then being able to spend it on what ever she liked. Then she thought of a great idea. Since being 16 is only 5 ages away from 11 she wanted to be Eleventeen! Like a teen by in what they do, but not actually a teen in age. I think this is a really good book and another recommended if you have a Raz Kids account.
Maths Protect
Today for a maths can do, I played Math Protect. This game is where you can learn different maths equations depending on the stages you pick. Its stages 2 - 8. Since I played stage 4 I got Groupings with 10, Grouping within 10 & 20, Doubles/Halves to 20, 10s & 100s, Addition to 10 and Subtraction to 10. Out of all I got 10/10. Stage 4 seemed quite simple. Maths Protect is a fun and easy way to learn your addition, division, subtraction and multiplication. I recommend you to play it.

3D Net Shapes
L.I: LI:To unfold a 3D shape into a net.
Today for maths we made nets with a 3D shape by drawing how it would unfold. You know you have done it correctly if you have done all the sides, and it will fold into the same shape you had. Before doing the task we were taught how to do it, so we would be able to do it independently. I picked 3 shapes to make a net out of, A Cube, Triangular Pyramid and Octagonal Prism. I measured the sides of the shape with a ruler and then drew it in my maths book.
I learnt how to unfold different shapes into a net
Fact Or Opinion : Mouse For Sale
LI: To separate fact from opinion.
Today for writing we watched 2 videos - Mouse For Sale and Selling Air. Before doing the actually task we were shown what we had to do and wrote down 4 Facts and Opinions as a reading group that we found in this clip - Let It Grow from the Lorax. Then in pairs we had made a copies of a google draw which had 8 boxes. 4 Boxes for 4 opinions ,and 4 Facts we found in the video. My pair was Fau. Then after finishing, we had to pick one that we would like to publish. We chose the Mouse For Sale google draw.
I learnt about the differences between Fact & Opinion and the way to easily explain what it means.

Today for inquiry we made posters showing what the right things are that you should do when online. We had to get into pairs, my pair was Avalon. We listed 5 right decisions to do when online and inserted 2 labeled for reuse photos. We named the poster - Online Safety, and made it on a google draw. We had to include the a title, a slogan about what kids should do, and our names in the bottom left corner. I learnt to make a helpful poster explaining what you should do when online in simple ways.

Kiwi Sport
Today LS1 had Kiwi Sport - Run, Jump, Throw in the hall with coach Andy. The first thing we did was talk about what we did and learnt last week. After the discussion we played - Here, There, Where, Everywhere! Andy would shout out here, there, where, or everywhere and we would have to move to the cones that she shouted. If you were in the wrong space, then you would be out. Then we played another game which you had to get into to partners. My partner was Sakina. We were in 2 different lines and had cones a distance away from each other then when we heard a clap from Andy we had to react quick and try to be the first to get our cone and bring it back. Sakina and I had all draws. Lastly we learnt starts. In a sprint race they say - On your mark, Set, Clap/Gun sound. In a distance race they say - On your mark, Clap/Gun sound. We started of by taking a big step behind the line, then when said - On your mark you have take a step forward and act is if you are "squishing a bug" to get your foot as close to the line. If your foot is pass the line you will be disqualified. Then when said - get set you bend the front foot forward so that the leg behind will automatically have the heel off the ground. Then once you hear the clap, then go. Then we had a quick conversation about what we learnt, then went back off to class.

Scales
L.I: To scale 2D shapes using times table.
For maths we learnt what scale is in maths definition and how to scale. In a group we made a graphic showing examples of scaling, and what scaling is. To scale, you need to know your times tables and divisions. Scaling is when make a shape a bigger or smaller version. If you want to make your shape bigger, then use times tables, however if you want to make your shape smaller, use division. In our maths books we made 3 shapes and multiplied or divided them. I got Mele, Nyjah, and Sakina to answer my equations. I learnt how to scale and what scale is with multiplication and division.
Kiwi Can
Today LS1 had Kiwi Can. In Kiwi can we played 3 activities. The first activity we played was selfie stick. We were giving an emotion an tried to act out that emotion while pretending to take a selfie with the yellow stick. Everyone had to co-operate when acting out the emotion. We then sorted out papers which had different emotions from good, to bad and tried ordering from what we thought was the bad to the good emotions. The order was checked buy Mr Malu, and if we were wrong we corrected ourselves and put them in the right places. Lastly we had GKQ which stands for General Knowledge Questions. Then after Kiwi Can we went off back to class.

L.I: We are learning to be able to identify what makes an effective advert.
Today for writing, we carried on with the persuasive advertisement topic and watched 5 advertisements. We made 5 copies of a google doc for each advertisements. On the doc were questions asking about each advertisement. We had to answer all of the questions by ticking the boxes, but I just put dots. Then we publish one advertisement document that we liked the best. I chose the coke advertisement. I learnt more about what is in an effective advertisement, and give my own opinions on them.
