Summer Learning Journey | Activity 2 (Day 4) | W2

For activity 2 of day 2 of week 2 from the Summer learning journey, I had to click on a link to find a list of VC winners. Then I had to choose 1 from the Second world war and read about him. Then I had to make a blog post and write about him. I needed to include - who he was and what did he do to earn a Victorian Cross metal. Click the link below to go on the site.
VC Winners - List

I chose to talk about Keith Elliot. There is a picture of him inserted above.
He was awarded a VC for all his efforts at Ruweisat Ridge on July the 15th in 1942. Keith was born on the 25th of April 1916 in Manawatu District and passed awayon the 7th of October 1989.

Summer Learning Journey | Activity 1 (Day 4) | W2

For activity 2 of day 4 for week 2 from the Summer learning journey, I had to click on a link to read more about the timeline of world war 2. Then we had to choose 2 key events and find more information about what happened on those days. Then afterwards we had to make a blog post and write a short summary of both of the two events and include the names of the people involved and where the event took place. Click the link below to check out the site.
WWII - Timeline

Chosen events:

1. 1st September 1939 (Germany invades Poland)
- The invasion of Poland was the beginning of world war 2 and started on the 1st of September in 1939. It took place in Poland and Nazi Germany, Soviet Union and Free City of Danzig were all involved in the invasion.

2. 3rd September 1939 (Britain, France, New Zealand, and Australia declare war on Germany)
- in 1939 on the 3rd of September, Britain and New Zealand declared war on Nazi Germany in response to the invasion of Poland. The allied Forces of Britain, New Zealand, France, Australia and Nazi Germany were all involved in this event.

Summer Learning Journey | Activity 3 (Day 3) | W2 | Bonus Activity

For activity 3 of day 3 of week 2 from the Summer learning journey which is also a bonus activity, I had to imagine that I was able to travel back in time to the 1930's to visit a family. I then had t create a blog post and write some special gifts or treats and things that we would bring with you.

I would bring - clothing, footwear, chips, chocolate (kitkat), water , fruits & vegies and small game equipment for the children to play with.

Summer Learning Journey | Activity 2 (Day 3) | W2

For activity 2 of day 3 of week 2 from the Summer learning journey, I had to imagine that I was alive in the I930's where a lot people and families struggled because of the big drought that lasted for most of the decade. Then make a blog post and list 3 different ways that we could raise funds for families to help them buy food and clothing and such.

Ways:

1. I could ask people around the neighbourhood or friends if I could help out around the house by doing any chores.
2. I could sell some items and such to my classmates and friends.
3. I could also go around local places and pick up rubbish to raise money.

Summer Learning Journey | Activity 1 (Day 3) | W2

For activity 1 of day 3 of week 2 from the Summer learning journey, I had to make a blog post and write a few things that we do to relax and de-stress.

Here are 3 ways:
Watch a movie or videos.
Listen to music.
Sometimes talk to my family members or friends.

Summer Learning Journey | Activity 3 (Day 2) | W2 | Bonus Activity

For activity 3 of day 2 from week 2 of the Summer learning journey which was also a bonus activity, I had to imagine that I was a member of the flight crew that flew across the Tasman from Australia to New Zealand. Then I had to make a blog post and write a poem that describes how I might feel after landing in Christchurch after the long trip.

My Poem -
I was in such relief that we landed safely,
Although the doubts that we wouldn't got to me,
Because of the incident shortly after take off,
Gladly, we worked through it and were able to make it,
just like planned.

Summer Learning Journey | Activity 2 (Day 2) | W2

For activity 2 of day 2 from week 2 of the Summer learning journey, I had to take a look at a self poitrat made in 1929 by a woman named Tamara de Lempicka. Then I had to make a blog post and rate it out of 5 then explain why you gave it that rating.

Here is the self portrait:

I would rate this self portrait a 4/5. I rate it this because it has great detail to it and you are able to see everything very clearly because of that (Research says it is her sitting in a green Bugatti). I also really like the style of this piece of art work. It is really a beautiful self portrait and I really like it.

Summer Learning Journey | Activity 1 (Day 2) | W2

For activity 1 of day 3 of week 2 from the Summer learning journey, I had to watch the trailer for 'Gold rush' then make a blog post and put your thoughts on the movie. There is no talking at all so you had to just watch was happening. We also had to explain if you would enjoy watching a silent movie and why or why not. Click the link below to watch the movie trailer.

Movie trailer - Gold Rush

I enjoyed watching the movie trailer because there were some funny parts that made me giggle or smile a bit and although there was no talking it had music that was connected with what was happening in the trailer. In my opinion I would like to watch a silent movie because I can see what is happening and use it to make my understanding of what is going on.

Summer Learning Journey | Activity 3 (Day 1) | W2 | Bonus Activity

For activity 3 of Day 1 from week 2 of the Summer learning journey which is also a bonus activity, I had to read a poem called 'In Flanders Fields' by John McCrae. Then make a blog post and say if you liked it or not and how it makes you feel. Click the link below to read the poem yourself.

Poem - In Flanders Fields

I enjoyed reading this poem. I liked how there was a word at the end of each line that rhymed with the previous one. Reading this poem made me feel very proud that we have people fighting and risking their lives for countries. I also felt a bit sad because this poem was very touching.

Summer Learning Journey | Activity 2 (Day 1) | W2

For activity 2 of Day 1 of week 2 from the Summer learning journey, we had to write what we think about the fact women weren't allowed to vote in Saudi Arabia until 2015. Then explain why or why not.

My thoughts:
I think it was unfair that women in Saudi Arabia weren't allowed to vote just until recently in 2015. I think this because in my opinion, everyone and anyone should be able to give their individual and independent opinion and vote not depending on gender because both male and female vote the same way so I don't see the point why they weren't allowed to vote. It must of took a lot of convincing and protesting to finally allow them.

Summer Learning Journey | Activity 1 (Day 1) | W2

For activity 1 of day 1 from week 2 of the Summer learning journey, I had to make a blog post and find a image of another cathedral besides the St Josephs cathedral then insert it on to my blog post. I had write the name of cathedral, where the cathedral is located, when it was built, and how long it took to build. There is a picture of the cathedral I chose to talk about below and also the answers to all the questions.

File:Dome of Florence Cathedral 2013-02-28 (day).jpg

Cathedral Name: Florence Cathedral

Cathedral Location: Church in Florence, Italy

Cathedral Building Date: 9th Of September 1296 and Ended 1436

Summer Learning Journey | Activity 3 (Day 5) | Bonus Activity

For activity 3 of Day 5 from the Summer learning journey which is also a Bonus activity, we had to come up with 4 questions we would ask Bill Kini. Bill Kini is new zealander who won a gold medal at the 1966 Commonwealth Games for being the best heavyweight boxer. This was the last activity for week one and now I will be moving on to week 2.

My four questions:

1. What made you want to become a heavyweight boxer?/Why did you want to become a heavyweight boxer?

2. How old were you when you started training to become a heavyweight boxer?

3. Who gave you the motivation and support throughout your journey?

4. How long and how many times would you train?

2 -  Waitangi Mountain Bike Park

3 - Photography

For activity 2 of Day 5 from the Summer learning journey, we had to click on a link to read about the village of Waitangi. Then make a blog post and list 3 fun things you can do as a visitor in Waitangi. I also included a attributed photo. The 3 activities were all from - 100% Pure New Zealand.

Summer Learning Journey | Activity 1 (Day 5)

Phrases:

  1. Nau mai ki Aotearoa. - Welcome to New Zealand
  2. ____ is my name. - Ko Victoria toku ingoa
  3. What is your name? - He aha to ingoa?
  4. He pai taku ki te takaro i te whutupaoro. - I like to play rugby
  5. Where do you come from? - No hea koe?

For activity 1 of Day 5 from the Summer learning journey, we had to translate 5 provided phrases to english and maori. Google translate was recommended to do this activity and it was very helpful. My answers are above. I found this activity quite easy to do.

Summer Learning Journey | Activity 3 (Day 4) | Bonus Activity

For activity 3 of Day 4 from the Summer learning journey which also a bonus activity, we had to watch 3 clips from the previous Te Matatini festivals. Then make a blog post and rank the performances in our favourite to least favourite and then explain why we gave them the ranking that we did.

#1 - Te Puku o Te Ika
In my opinion this one was the best because because the rhythm of the guitar was very good and the singing went along with it beautifully and the all of them were singing together and not one person was singing faster or slower than the others. I also liked how in the beginning, it was at first quiet but enough so you could hear them but then it got louder and I think more of the people started to sing and it just went well with the whole song.

#2 - Tamatea Arikinui
In my opinion this one was the second best because I really liked the poi moves because they go with the song and beat/rythm of the guitar and the singing was great but there were a few things of why it wasn't as good as the first because I could see a few people sometimes late to do something but it was still good.

#3 - Te Iti Kahurangi
In my opinion this one was the least best but the singing was good and the rythm and beat of the guitar was good as well and the singing went with it like all of of the other performances but just somethings just didn't go with it or suit it and that's why it wasn't as god as the others.

Summer Learning Journey | Activity 2 (Day 4)

For activity 2 of day 4 from the Summer Learning Journey, we had to choose one Moari game for the 4 options they gave us. Then we had to make a blog post about it and write the name of the game, the goal or purpose of the game and two rules. One of the Maori games was Poi Rakau and I chose to talk about this game. The purpose of this game is to improve hand and eye coordination by passing and catching. Two rules of this game are - You need to get to the rakau before it drops or hits another player and second rule I am going to tell you is after time the circle gets bigger so it gets more harder.

Summer Learning Journey | Activity 1 (Day 4)

For activity 1 of day 4 from the Summer learning journey, we had to listen to a variety of Moari waiata and read the lyrics. Then make a blog post on which one of the waiata you found and liked then most and also explain why.

My favourite Maori waiata is Rona. This is my one of my favourite waiata because I have sang this song before in Maori class with my class and I like the rhythm it has. You can click the link below to listen to it.

Summer Learning Journey | Activity 3 (Day 3) | Bonus Activity

Sister:
Going to the pools.
Riding bike.

Mom:
Watch movies.
Chill and cool down.

Brother:
Going out with friends or to shop.
Staying home and playing game.

For activity 3 of day 3 from the Summer learning journey which is also a bonus activity, we had to ask 3 member from our family what their two favourite things to do in the summer were. I wrote their names and their two things besides each other, above.

Summer Learning Journey | Activity 2 (Day 3)

Ko Poneke Maunga te maunga   The mountain that I affiliate to is Mount Wellington
Ko Tamaki River te awa          The river that I affiliate to is Tamaki River
Ko Amerika ahau I am from America
Ko Kevin rāua ko Akei ōku mātua My parents are Kevin and Akei
Ko Victoria tōku ingoa. My name is Victoria

For activity 2 of Day 3 from the Summer learning journey, we had to write our own pepehas using a provided template for us. A pepeha is a special way of showing who you are and where you are from. There were extra other lines to the pepeha that I didn't have.

Summer Learning Journey | Activity 1 (Day 3)

For activity 1 of day 3 on the Summer learning journey, we seen that in the 1800's most families were big and the average amount was seven to nine children. Then we had to create a blog post saying how we would feel and would we enjoy being a member of a family. We had to explain why or why not. In my opinion I wouldn't want to live in a big family because then you would have to spend more money to make sure everyone gets food and everyone is provided with the same amount of things everyone else is provided with.

Summer Learning Journey | Activity 3 (Day 2) | Bonus Activity

Image result for Burrito

For activity 3 on day 2 of the Summer learning journey which is also a bonus activity, we had to make a blog post and insert a picture of your favourite food/meal. We also had to remember to put what it is and why it is our favourite food. My favourite food is a burrito. There are different types of burritos and different burrito fillings. I like burritos because the tortilla that holds everything is very smooth and soft but it can also be crisp as well. I also like burritos because you can put any filling you like inside. I like having cheese in mine. You can easily hold the burrito in your hands without something falling out and everything is nicely put inside.

Summer Learning Journey | Activity 2 (Day 2)

For activity 2 of day 2 of the Summer learning journey, we had to draw a picture of us doing our dream job and post it on our blog. My dream job is to be an actor and I tried showing that. I made my drawing on a google draw. I would like to be an actor because I can express myself through actions or words and I can remember my scripts. Also because my sister and I just randomly start to act sometimes and I sometimes I can be more serious in what I am doing and make it seem more real and actual happening. It took me quite a lot of time to draw the picture but it is fine.

Summer Learning Journey | Activity 1 (Day 2)

Image result for Wharepuni
Differences:

A Wharepuni has traditional carving patterns all around it.
A Warepuni has maori carvings/statues on the outside.

Similarities:
There is a roof, walls, doors and windows.
It is a 1 story house like mine.

For activity 1 of day 2 of the Summer learning journey, we had to compare the wharepuni to our own home. The wharepuni is where maori slept and I put an image of it above. We had to make a blog post and write two similarities and two differences. The wharepuni doesn't really look like my house.

Summer Learning Journey | Activity 3 | BONUS ACTIVITY

I would like to be in a Waka Ama race one day because it includes you to work together and co-operate as a team and you really have to have the strength. It can also give me a real work out and I enjoy competitions because then I get competitive and that pushes me to work even harder.

For activity 3 of the Summer learning journey which is also a Bonus Activity, we watch a short video of a Waka Ama race. Then on our blog post put whether you would like to be in a Waka Ama race one day, or not then explain why or why not. I share all my answers and information to those questions above in a short description.

Summer Learning Journey | Activity 2

Dear ______,
My trip to New Zealand was fascinating!
Although at first whenever I thought about it, I felt butterflies swarming
in my stomach but I soon got over it. We passed many amazing places
and many things I have never seen before. There so much nature everywhere
especially mountains and trees and the air smelt so fresh. We also seen
some amazing creatures. My Trip was so amazing and I wish
you could experience it with me and I would definitely see it all again.

From Victoria.

For activity 2 of the Summer learning journey we had to imagine that we were on board one of the wakas. Then make a blog post and write a short letter to a friend telling them about your voyage to New Zealand. In the letter we had to include how we felt about moving to a new country. The letter I wrote is put above and I wrote the letter to Sakina.

Summer Learning Journey | Activity 1

Fact 1 - Maui used the blood from his own nose to catch the gigantic fish because his brothers didn't give him the bait.

Fact 2 - Maui had made his fishing line from fax and recited an old karakia to give his fishing line strength.

Fact 3 - Maui is great fisherman and the giant fish that he caught was soon known as the North Island of Aoteroa and Maui's canoe the South island.

For activity 1 and Day 1 of the 2017 Summer learning journey, we had to click on a link which took us to a site, then read a story about a famous man in Maori mythology (Maui). Then make a blog post listing 3 facts that you learnt about him and what other stories you have heard about Maui if you have. I have listed the facts I about Maui above. Some other stories I have heard about Maui is - Maui and the sun/ How Maui slowed the sun and Battles of the Mountains.

That's My Money

L.I: To manage finances and profit.
This week for maths we are still doing That's My Money. So far I have earned 133$ and 40c. I have been making more visual DLO's because that earns me a lot of money but still do a lot of prototec. On Wednesday we looked at the people who had the most money and Mr Wong gave them chocolates. Then we put other peoples names on a wheel and span it to randomly choose who would get chocolate. I was one of the people who it landed on and I got a moro chocolate. Then we did the disaster, and luckily no one got it and we also did the lotto and no one got the lotto too.

TV News

L.I: To use a range of comprehension to go deeper into a text.
This week for reading we had to get into a new groups but have someone who was in your group last time to still be in the same group as you. In my group there was Mele, Sakina, Sila and Nyjah. Like the other times, we had to decided who would be doing which category. I did business, Mele did sports, Sakina did entertainment, Sila did national and Nyjah did international. This time, the event had to have happened any where from the 5th of December to the 11th of December. For business I talked about Domino's new dessert pizza. This week it was TV news so we had to record yourself as if it was on a TV and all the information had to be all on 1 video but we still had to create a DLO that had the information on it. As before we have to included attributed images, make sure it is the correct date, and true information.

Free Rice

Today I did a one of the writing can do's for an other and I played free rice. I have played this game a lot of times before and in this game, if you answer a question correctly you donate 10 grains of rice. This game is to stop world hunger. This time I donated 1050 grains of rice. This is a great learning game and it is so much fun. It is smart that you learn and also donate and help try to save world hunger. If you want to donate to stop world hunger and still learn at the same time, I really do recommend you playing this amazing.

Tables Conga

For a one of the Maths can do I played Tables Conga. Tables Conga is a game I have played a lot of times so I decide to play it even more times. In this game you can choose to do your 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9 times tables but it is also like counting up in that number like if it was 6s, you can just count in your 6s. I worked on my 9s again because it is the only high one you can do. To move, you need to use the up, down, left and right arrow keys. You mission or goal is to collect the all the correct answers by hovering or moving over them then they follow behind you where ever you go. More Xs start to appear after a few seconds and if you touch them then you have to restart the whole game so that pushes you to go more faster or doge them. This game is really fun and I recommend you playing it if you want to practise your timetables or counting up in numbers.

Blog Commenting

Today I commented on Mele's blog. I commented on her Kiwi Sport. In my opinion, she did superb. I also went to kiwi sport as well and I thought it was really fun and I had an amazing time. I really liked how she created her own learning intention for kiwi sport and how she has a detailed description about what she did at kiwisport and how everything she did is listed in order from the first, to last. I was curious and wanted to know who her buddy was for the activities that she needed a buddy for.
Here you can find Mele's blog post and my comment below -  Kiwi Sport

Kiwi Sport

This week LS1 had kiwi sport in the hall with coach kevin. First we did a warm up. We choose to play Octopus, Stuck in the mud or every bodies it. Octopus got the most votes so we played that. After we played two games of octopus we practised doing a new trick. We had to put the shuttle on the racket and rotate it around once without having the shuttle fall. It was pretty tricky and I was only able to do it a few times. Then we got the badminton nets and played singles ins and outs which was a 1 v 1 between one person and another person and it only took you 1 point to win then the loser went to the back of the line while the winner stays and a new person who was at the front of the line goes and verses the winner. Then we played doubles ins and outs which was 2 pairs verses another 2 pairs and this time it had to take you 2 points to win. If the shuttle hit the roof while you were playing 2 times then you are automatically out and if it only hit it once you could still play but if it happened 2 times then the next pair was up. This was our last day at badminton/kiwisport since it almost the end of the term so we thanked and said goodbye to Kevin then went back to class.

The Night Before Christmas My Remake

L.I: To create my own version of a popular poem.
This week for writing we listen to "The Night Before Christmas". We seen that it was a poem or that the words at the end all rhymed with the previous line. Our task was to create our on version of the story or remake make it but we had to keep the original first line which was 'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house' and also have the ending line at the end which was ' Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night. We also heard a kiwi version of the story. I decide to make mine a kiwi version so I included summer things. I had to go over and check if it rhymed and if it made sense.

Zombie Apocalypse

L.I: To make generalisations about the impact of a group in our community.
This week for inquiry we had to think about if there was a zombie apocalypse and it has just ended and pick one of the 3 scenarios. Scenario Option 1 - Government services have been lost which are - libraries, welfare, city councils, mayors and politicians. Scenario Option 2 - Health services have been lost which are - clinics, dentist, doctors, plunket and ambulances. Scenario Option 3 - Food production and delivery has been lost which are - supermarkets, farms and factories, restaurants and takeaways, fruits and vegetable markets, butchers, fish markets, cold storage and food delivery. Then we had to write scripts because we would be creating a vlog or video talking about what it is like with out that service. In the script you had to write - what can't do you anymore, what can't the community do anymore and How have you and the community tried to overcome the lack of that service. The vlog only had to be one day in your life. I chose to do scenario option 3 which was - Food production and delivery has been lost. To record my vlog I used clipchamp and to write my script for what I was going to say in my vlog I used a google doc.

Tables Conga

For a Maths can do I decided to play Tables Conga. I played Tables Conga many times before. Tables conga is a game where you can choose to count in your 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s, 6s, 7s, 8s, or 9s. It is also testing your multiplying. I worked on my 9s. You need to use the up, down, left and right arrow keys to move around. You need collect the numbers by hovering or moving over them then they follow behind you where ever you go. As time goes by more Xs start to appear and if you touch them then you have to restart the whole game so that challenges you to quickly complete it or doge them. If you finish the game then you can choose to claim a trophy that appears on the screen. This game is really fun and you can play it if you want to practise your timetables or counting up in numbers.

Blog Commenting

Today I commented on Marieta's blog. I commented on her Illustrations. I think she did a awesome job. Since I am in Mr Ogilvies writing group as well, I also did this activity. I really liked her illustrations for each of the paragraphs and how she created everything using shapes and tools. I wanted to know found writing the narrative with her group fun and if she found illustrating the pictures fun.
Here you can find Marieta's blog post and my comment below -  Illustrations

That's My Money

L.I: To manage profits and finances.
This week for maths we are learning about money and doing activities or task to earn money and having to pay for specific things. For the next 2 weeks we have to save or try and earn as much money as we can. First Mr Wong told us how everything works, what happens and what you have to do. We all had to make a copy of a google sheet which had all that we need on it. You first start off with 50 dollars. Everyday that we do maths we have to pay insurance, and pay rent. For insurance you could choose High cover, Medium Cover or Low Cover. For rent you could go on the bench, table, floor or alcove but they all cost something. The bench costs 24 dollars, The Tables costs 20 dollars, the floor cost 28 dollars and the alcove costs 36 dollars. I sit at the tables because it is the cheapest option. To earn money you need to create a DLO or play prototec. I mostly play prototec because it is really easy. I do level 6 which is stage 6 because it is easy. I have to give proof to the teacher that I did it before I add it on. I only show the teacher when I have 100% but I can also go show him even if it is at 90% or more.

Key Board Drills

L.I: To learn touch typing.

Today for a Daily 6 I decided to do a writing one. I did my Key Board Drills again. For this Daily 6 task I made a copy of a google doc that was like the level 1 template but jut had different words and punctuation. This google doc was linked on the LS1 Daily 6 level 2 writing site. It had letters, words or/and punctuation in a colum then a blank colum below so we could copy it but using the correct fingers.

Daily Information

L.I: To use a range of comprehension to go deeper into a text.
This week for reading we have been looking at the 6 news categories. National, International, Business, Sports, Entertainment and Weather. This week we had to get into groups and create a DLO or website including each of the topics but except for Weather. The leaders/editors of the groups were the people from Rudolph the Reading Reindeers. Victoria, Nyjah, Jack, Alex and Joseph but on the day that we were organising who is in which group, Joseph was away. In my group I had Jonathan, Karlos, Matthew, Xavier and Mele. First we discussed who would be doing which category, what we were going to use to put all our information on and the title of our news paper. We agreed that we would be using a google slides and the title of our news paper would be - Daily Information. My job as editor was to make sure we the people in my group were doing their work correctly/properly and make sure their information is true and make sure it is not all copy and pasted. I worked on Entertainment, Xavier and Karlos worked on Business, Matthew worked on national, Jonathan worked on international and Mele worked on Sports. The newspaper had to include an attributed image so it could help the reader understand or have a view of what is going on or what it is, the date, a title for the newspaper and who it was was written by. Also, the event had to have happened anywhere from the 28th of November to the 4th of December.

Narrative Illustration

This week for writing we had to get into groups of 3 people. In that group of people we had to create a narrative on a sheet of paper. How this would work is everyone in the group had to fold the sheet of paper into 3 parts. We all had to write the first part of the narrative in the first box then pass the paper on so then everyone could get to write on the sheet of paper and so the narrative would be random. When you passed it on to the next person, you had to fold the paper so they couldn't see what you have written. Before actually writing the narrative we had to plan it out. The characters were Florb and Umm and they were aliens. They have a pet named Broly which is a giant slug. The problem was that Broly destroys the city and the solution is a new super hero was born. The beginning had to start with - On a planet far away, the next paragraph had to start with - One day, the second to last paragraph had to start with - The next day then the last part which was the solution had to start with - Finally. You only had 10 minutes to write. In my group of three I had Mele and Sakina. After writing we had to look at it and see which narrative makes the most sense since there were 3 options. Then after choosing we had to create a google presentation with 4 slides and illustrate the 4 paragraphs.

Kiwi Can

This week  LS1 had kiwi can in room 7 with Ms. Latoya and Ms. Lily. First we were split into 2 groups. I was put into group 1. Then we played a game that was similar to tag. For this game we had to go outside. One team were the taggers and the other team was the runners. The taggers had to use a ball and try and tag the runner with it but you had to pass it to your team mates because you cant move with the ball. There were hula-hoops as well and they were safe places where you couldn't get tagged, but you could only stay there for 5 seconds. The the tagger had a turn being the runners and the runners had a turn being the taggers. Then we played another game where the 2 team had to get into circles. In the centre of each circle was a cone. One person from each team had to go into the centre of the other teams circle. There was a ball and the team had to try and roll it to try and knock the cone done whilst the person inside the circle had to try and block it and push it away so it couldn't fall. If they failed to stop the ball and it knocks the cone down, some else from their team would take their spot. Then we went back inside and created tall towers made of trays. The tower had to be at least the height of where your waste was. Then we built it again but outside. Cones were surrounding the tower the 2 teams made. Only a few people would play at first then the next people from the team would play on the next round. The goal is to try and pass it to your team mates so your team can get closer to the other teams tower then try and knock it down. Who ever did it wins. We played this until the morning tea bell rang and we had to go back to class.

Kiwi Sport

This week LS1 had kiwi sport in the hall with coach Kevin. First we did a warm up. For the warm up we played stuck in the mud. The two taggers were Akuhata and Te Rangimare. If you got tagged by one of them, you had to do stop where you are and you had to wait for someone to set you free. To set someone free you had to clap between their legs then high five them. After that we had to get into pairs. My pair was Sakina. The pairs had to get one shuttle to share between them and both get a racket for themselves. In our pairs we practised doing the forehand lift. One person chucked it to their buddy, then their buddy had to hit it doing the forehand lift. Then we did singles ins and outs using the badminton net. One person verses another person and who ever gets 1 point first wins and then they verse the next person at the front of the line. There had to be 8 people at a net. Then we played doubles ins and outs. For this we still used the badminton net but we had to get back into our pairs and verse other pairs. Which ever pair got 2 points first they versed the next pair in line. Then we just quickly recapped what we did before going back to class.

Prototec

This week for a can do I decided to play prototec. I have been playing it a lot lately for maths and I have been going 1 above my expected level which is a year 6/stage 6 level. I have been getting 100% most of the time. In stage 6, it questions you on your multiplication and division from the 2s all the way to the 10s, subtraction to 20, addition to 20 and your 1000. Prototec is such a fun maths game where you can learn or practise to do things at your stage, above your stage or below your stage. If you get a 10/10 score which is basically 100% you can even get a certificate! Before you play prototec, on the front cover it says to introduce your self. It has a place for you to put your name and class room number. You can even change the test type if you want and choose a stage. I recommended this game to anyone who wants to practise there maths, at their stage or above their stage. Or you can do the stages below your year level.

Community Roles

L.I: To classify personal relationships.
This week for inquiry we had to create our own google slides and choose our own 3 roles from the options that were listed that we would like to talk about. This time we had to work independently. The roles each had to be from a different box. The boxes were - Emergency Service, Professionals, Trades and government agencies. I decided to choose - Libraries, Ambulance and Doctor. We had to include attributed images in the slide to show the viewers what it is our what it looks like. We had to find information about the roles we chose and answer the following questions - How does this role interact with you or your whanau/family and How do the role interact with each other.

Addle

Today for a Maths can do I have decided to play Addle.
I have played this game before. It is an addition game. To play this game you need to put the numbers where they need to go, the numbers need to add up to the answer of the equation. Once you have finished doing all of them you finish the game. If something is incorrect but you think it is right, the game will tell you how many lines you got wrong and which lines you got wrong. This game helps you learn how to find numbers that add up or make a different number. This game is fun and I enjoy playing it. If you want to learn doing this or practise doing it I recommend playing this game.

Free Rice

Today I did a writing can do and I played free rice. I have played this game a lot of times before and basically, if you answer a question correctly you donate 10 grains of rice for those who need it so you can stop world hunger. Last time, I only decided to donate 150 grains of rice and I said I will donate more next time and so this time I donated 300 grains of rice. This game is so much fun and I really enjoy playing this game. If you want to donate to stop world hunger and still learn at the same time, I really do recommend you playing this game and try to donate over 100 grains of rice. If you would like to, comment below if you did play this and tell me how much grains of rice you donated.

Blog Commenting

Today I commented on Sakina's blog. I commented on her Weather News. She did a fantastic job. Since I am in the same reading group as her, I also did this activity but I did national news. I also talked about weather but it had to be weather in New Zealand for me since it is national. I liked how she linked the site from where she got the information to which is the same site I got my information from as well and I also like. I also like the fun colours she used and the images she inserted in her DLO. I wanted to know is she has ever been to somewhere that has had a flood.
Here you can find Sakina's blog post and my comment below -  Weather News

L.I: To create a test to find if something is either random or not.
This week for maths we had to create a test to see if "wheel decide" is actually random or not. Wheel decide is a site that lets you spin it and then it will land on one of the choices you have put. For this, we had to work in pairs so Sakina and I did this test together. In the class room we had plastic coins that were for maths so we used that as well for the test. How the test went is one person would flip the plastic coin 100 times and write how many times it landed on heads or tails on the google sheets whilst the other person spun the wheel decide 100 times and write down how many time it landed on a heads or tails on the google sheet. Then we had to switch so now the person who did the wheel decide, now had to do the coin flipping and the one who was doing the coin flipping is now doing the wheel decide. For the coin flip, we actually got 100 heads and 100 tails for each and for the wheel decide we got 97 heads and 103 tails. After everyone finished doing this, we added up all the data from everyone's tests on a google sheets. We put the results of our coin flips and wheel decide spins and put our and our partners initials above it so we knew whos results they were. After adding it up, the total flips and spins were 2160. All together there were, 1087 heads for the coin flips and 1073 tails for the coin flips. The numbers were pretty close. All together for wheel decide, 1087 heads and 1082 tails. The numbers for that were also close. The conclusion is that wheel decide is random.
