Raz Kids - A Golden Tradegy

This book is called A Golden Tragedy retold by Robin king and illustrated by Joel Snyder.
This story is about a how a king wanted to please his daughter and keep her happy for he loved her dearly and he set off and was granted one of his wishes by a wizard. It was to make everything he touches into gold. The wizard told him he will soon regret his wish and soon, he did. When his daughter gave him a hug, she also turned into gold! He set off to the cottage that the wizard lived in and begged for another wish, but the only way he could have his wish granted was to take away ALL the gold and glitter that surrounded him. Then his wish will be reversed. So he did what he was told, and then the spell was reversed!

Duck Overboard

Text title: Duck Overboard
Author: (I am not sure who the official/original author is)
I think the main idea of this text is… How rubber bath toys spread around and stopping at the different places and were used to mark the great ocean currents and how valuable, amazing and interesting they were.
One example of a supporting detail is… How a storm washed containers off a ship and one of the container spilled its rubber bath toys into the sea causing this event to happen.
Another example of a supporting detail is… How the rubber bath toys were able to float long distances and go separate ways and some of them being able to make their way to land/ground and how the scientist and researches found it very valuable and useful.
It is clear that the main idea is How a storm caused a boat to wash off a container filled with rubber bath toys and the adventure of the rubber bath toys and how they traveled long distances and more.

Because A storm washed the containers off a ship and one of the container spilled its rubber bath toys into the sea causing this event to happen and how the rubber bath toys went separate ways and were able to float very long distances and and some of them being able to make their way to land/ground and how the scientist and researches found it very valuable and useful.
L.I: To identify the main ideas in a text.
I read a story called - Duck Overboard - and made a copy of a google doc that had a template of 3 that had - I think the main idea of the text is -, One example of supporting detail is -, Another example of supporting detail, and Its clear that the main idea is -.... Because -. I wrote what I thought the main Idea of the story was then wrote 2 examples of the supporting detail then official what I clearly thought the main idea was and the because.
I learnt to find the and put in the supporting detailed for your main idea and I learnt more about finding and thinking about the main idea and find the main idea in different ways.

T-Chart : A Successful Team vs A Failing Team

L.I: Identify actions and factors that can prevent a team from working co-operatively
Work effectively as a part of a team Make sound decisions about safety.
I learnt what a makes a Team successful and a team Fail.
We watched a some video about a successful/Good team and a Failing/Bad, then in a group made a T chart showing a list of 10 things of How a team is successful and how a team can fail. We shared our ideas to everyone then went back and were instructed to list the top 2 things that can really get you to be a successful team out f the 10 list of things we chose, then do the same with the failing to but the top 2 things that can make your team fail.

Persuasive Language - Word Art

L.I: to show what we already know about the purpose and language of advertising.
After learning about being persuasive and persuasive things we had to create a word art full of
different words based off what we learnt from the topic, persuasive. Instead of 20 words, I listed 22.
I could also choose an image if I liked, so I chose an image of the world. Everyone one can be persuasive and should be persuasive for the right reasons. Being persuasive is being able to convince someone into thinking your way.
The site I used to create the Word Art: https://wordart.com/

Shapes

L.I: To learn about three dimensional shapes’ names and their properties.
I Learnt the differences and the sames between Prisms and Pyramids.
For this tasks, it was about shapes. Mostly, about Prisms and Pyramids. We had to insert images
of a shape and measure and find out their sizes, and etc. We also explained what a Prism means and what a pyramid means and a little more about the shape. We also showed where the things were with
labels and shapes.

Kiwi Can: Emotions

LI: To learn how to Share and act out different emotions.
We learnt how to express different emotions we feel and give our ideas on what we think on how and why we can feel different emotions.

In Kiwi Can we played 2 games. We were learning about emotions and feelings. The first games was emotional instrument. For this game we were split into 4 groups. In my group I had Matthew, Liane, Akuhata, and Xavier but to show that we had a group of four and what we did, we took the photo with, Nyjah and Chavda. We were given a emotion and had to act it out while playing an instrument then let the other teams guess. The second game was called emotional statue. We got into pairs. My pair was Sakina. For the first round we had to choose a person to be the creator and the other person to be the statue. For the first round sakina was the statue, and I was the creator. The creator had to move around the statue to make them seem as if they are feeling an emotion. The first emotion was angry. The photo on the left is the position and face I put Sakina in.
Then the second emotion was sad. In the right photo it shows the position and face Sakina put me in . The chant we learnt was - Kiwi can says… Emotions are what we feel, so let others know, what’s the deal :)

Arriving in New Zealand - Winter Learning Journey | Activity 18 |

I felt nervous and wished the butterflies in my stomach to disappear but at the same time I felt quite excited to see and feel what it would be like to finally arrive at New Zealand. I don’t know why I was even nervous! The weather was amazing and the blue sky was so beautiful. The breeze was calming and soothing and the green grass was almost everywhere. Looking back at the ocean was a great view to see. Leaves blew in the air as the sun shone down on me as laid down looking at the clouds while naming what they look like. The trees and grass swayed side to side together. Birds flew back and forth while squaking.

For this Winter Learning Journey activity I had to write about what it would be like and feel like for me when I first arrived in New Zealand.

Alone in the forest - Winter Learning Journey | Activity 17 |

My heart was pounding, I started to feel dizzy for some reason. Just knowing that I was alone in this dark forest scared me, who knows what could happen. I couldn’t bare to take not even one step away from my spot, I didn’t want to get lost although I was already. Soon i felt a strange feeling in my throat as if i was going to throw up any second. In hope of finding where my group and curious kiwi was at, I slowly walk towards the trees to see what is beyond. I took  big gulp a breathed in, then breathed out “calm down, you’re going to be fine” I thought to myself. In relief my eyes pop as I see a small light shining in between 2 trees. It was just my luck! I sprinted towards the light as it shined bigger and bigger while smiling. I could see a shadow of a group of people and at this point it didn’t matter if it was my group or not, I just safe and sound. To my surprise it was my group and curious kiwi! The stress held inside of me just slowly drifted away as if me getting lost, never happened.

For this Winter Learning Journey activity I had to write a story carry on what happened next. I had to make it 8-10 sentences longs and use a lot of detail based off how I might be feeling, seeing, and doings once I realise im alone in the forest.

Fishing in Farewell Spit - Winter Learning Journey | Activity 11 | BONUS

Image result for Fishing in farewell spit - hectors dolphins
I think fishing in Farewell Spit should be Banned! This is very hurtful  to know and see our animals either die or be trapped. Being told that slightly rare dolphins are sadly being killed every year when they are trapped in fishnets and can’t escape is very sad. These people aren’t thinking before they act and don’t bother too. These sea animals are very special and are part of the nature. Having our sea animals go extinct is not what people should want neither being selfish and showing off what they caught. Over 80,000 sea animals are killed every year which is very bad and disappointing.

For this activity I had to write about my opinion on if fishing in Farewell Spit should be banned or not. I said it should be banned and explain why. I added a photo of dolphins who were sadly caught in a fishnet and had no possible way to get out, so they died. Knowing this makes me sad and confused why they do this.

                                                    Rating - 4 ( Good Movie )

For this Winter Learning Journey activity I had to watch the 2 trailers for Whale Rider and write my own summary for it. Then after the summary I had to rate it only by the trailers. I gave it a 4 which equaled to Good movie. It sounded interesting but I still wanted to watch the movie itself to see what if it's as good as how I think it is. I researched about this movie and took bits and pieces from my researching and put it into my summary. I also added the picture of the front cover from Whale Rider

I chose a setting from the book - Danny the Champion Of The World - and took a picture of it. I inserted the picture on a google draw an described the setting with more detail. I described the setting using the things shown and how the author described it.

Completed Narrative - Jack, Jill and the unexpected Halloween night

Jack,Jill and the unexpected Halloween night…

Halloween Night:
*Bang, Bang, Bang! “Trick or treat!” Jack heard kids knocking on the neighbours door. He stretched and stared at the small part of the moon that slightly shone through the kitchen window with a frown. “Are you ready yet?”, He questioned exhausted, “Yes, I am now” Jill responded. A big smile grew on Jack's face as he raced to the front door, he had been waiting for Jill to get ready for over hours.

A witches treat:
It was around 6:00 or 7:00 and they were on their way to go  trick or treating. Jack’s feet were aching from when he walked around the house waiting for Jill to finish getting ready. They knocked on their first house hoping to receive more than just 1 piece of candy. “Trick or treat!”, they shouted. Seconds later the door opened. relieving an old lady dressed as a witch. She grabbed 2 big handfuls of out of her bowl of starbursts and s-l-o-w-l-y sprinkled it in their bags before they skipped off to the next house..

The shed:
Leaves brushed against their shoes, Jack could hear his sister's teeth chattering. The wind glided against his face and as exhaling, fog would escape out his mouth. About now they were their 5th house. Jill complained about how she was getting cold and her feet were aching, their bags were already full of delicious candy. Even smelling it for too long could give you a headache, so they tried finding somewhere warmer to rest. Later they stumbled across a shed like basement that was just slightly more warm than outside. The floors made an irritating creek after every step that they made. Webs coated the walls and corners of the roof. Dust rained down as if it was snowing and a revolting smell spread around the room and filled their nose.

Monsters feast/Jack’s Death:
*Crunch...crunch...crunch* The sound of leaves being walked on came from outside the shed. Jack and Jill stopped rolling the marble they found from the corner of the shed to each other. Jack slowly tiptoed outside to see what was going on. It was just a strange black cat as dark as a shadow that just stared at Jack while licking its paw. Jack followed it to a swamp but before he could realise that, he tripped over a pile of crunchy leaves and twigs. Then as Jack got up and dusted himself off, a strange figure grew out the swamp, it had 2 small horns and the tips were sharper than a butcher's knife. He had 5 eyeballs and his eyelids were covered in a green goo. Jack screamed and in attempt to run the monster instantly gripped him tight and swallowed him whole.

Jill’s revenge:
Jill came running after hearing Jack’s loud scream. She grabbed a sharp rock from beside her foot and sprinted towards him in attempt to tackle. She was about the size of newly grown bush to him. She took grip of his left horn while striking her sharp rock against his ruff fur. A liquid yellow substance leaked out the cuts, then seeping through her costume. She felt nothing but anger and sadness, maybe even a bit of guilt. “I should have stayed with him, I should have just went with him!,” she angrily thought to herself. For her brother had passed away. Or did he?...

An unexpected survival:
Jill slowly moved back in fear, “something” unexpectedly bursted out of the monster's stomach. This time it was a human like figure. “It couldn’t be?... could it?” Jill thought to herself. She thought she was going crazy for thinking it could be...Jack, but as the figure got closer Jill realised that it was him! Just covered in the yellow goop. Without a care she ran up to go hug him. She inhaled and exhaled deeply in relief as they listened to the screaming of the wind that came from afar. Later on they walked back home knowing that halloween night will always be remember and the most strangest and unexpected. Their promise of the day, was to never go trick or treating again.

L.I: To proofread and edit.
I learnt more about writing a full narrative and to attract the reader using onomatopoeia.
I took my ideas from my narrative plan, then inserted them in my completed narrative and named the paragraphs depending on what it is about.
