Stand Up - A History of Protest in New Zealand

This week in reading, Waiheke group read a book about some of New Zealand's most historical protests. This book was called "Stand Up - A History of Protest in New Zealand".  During reciprocal reading, we made a list of vocabulary, questions, and predictions. The task was to complete a literacy weaving from everyone making their own strip and using two words each from the book. I chose Protest Signs and The Depression Riots. Our summary above made up of two example protests in the book, shows how the people protested and why. What is protesting? It is expressing your opinion on a cause using signs, banners, marches, etc.

Bow & Arrow - History | Presentation

 
L.I: To learn about iorn age technology/weapons and examples in history.
This week for inquiry we are now working in the iorn age and could choose a new technology to find out about and later on create, to use in a game. The options were defensive technology as they were castles, bow and arrow, or wall/gates. My group, Farzana, Sakina, Nicole, and I decided to do bow and arrow. After making a keyword list as groups, we went away in our seperate groups and found sites and informationl. Then we created slide to share our learning and write down all the needed information and extra aswell. The needed information was, introducing the technology in the first slide, and then two historical examples in another slide of the name of the location/people who used it, and when it was used. After finishing it off, we had to present our presentation to the class to earn the technology like we did the last two weeks.

Trebuchet | Ancient History

L.I: To learn about earthworks fortification and examples in history.
This week for inquiry we picked a new technology for an advantages for the invaders this time since we made something for the invaders. My group is Farzana, Sakina, and Nicole and we could choose out of a few other technologies but we decided to go with Trebuchet since it was useful for coming across a rampart. We first made a keywords list to pick a few words to search up and find information. We had to find out two examples it was used in history and introduce the technolgoy we chose at the start of our google presentation. After finishing it off, we had to present it to the rest of the groups to earn the technology.
