Activity 3: Feast or Famine

Yes, I would definitely consider doing a 20 or 40 Hour famine if I was able to! It would be a great feeling over all to experience and participate in that. It's a great example and influence on others, to show some random act of kindness by raising money for the charity. It's a great way to be supportive too, because we actually make a life-changing difference. I really think World Vision and the 40 Hour Famine is extremely beneficial and impactful. It would also be a big accomplishment, and a life experience!

In this activity we looked at funny actor from New Zealand, named Julian Dennison, who is only 17 years old. Besides starring in a couple of movies and commercials, he has joined up with 'World Vision' to be a 40 Hour Famine Ambassador, travelling to Uganda to meet some of refugees from South Sudan! Then we were asked if we would or wouldn't participate in a 20 or 40 Hour Famine like Julian. Personally, I went with yes because it is a big help and shows my support to them. Read more about my personal opinion and thoughts in the 6 sentences above!

Activity 2: Plot Points

For this activity we were to imagine we had the chance to create/write our own movie. We had to explain some of our thoughts including what it would it be about, who would be the main characters, what are some important events, and even the title name for the movie itself. I've created a short presentation to explain the concept. The title of the movie is 'Young' and the general idea is about a young girl who is diagnosed with schizophrenia which is a serious mental disorder - also, the symptoms I mention aren't all the signs and experiences that people face. I think the general idea would be a great movie, short film, or documentary.

Activity 1: Talk Show Host

In this activity we looked at probably one of the most influential woman in the world, Oprah Winfrey. She is super successful, most well-known for her talk show that she ran for 25 years! She has also started her own school in South Africa, and encourages young people with opportunities to follow their passions. The task was to share our interest/passion and future plans with our viewers. Although I don't have a specific job in mind, I'd love to focus on travelling or exploring more in my future. Personally, I think it would be a good idea to continue studying but it depends on where I am at when I actually finish high school/college.

Activity 3: Need for Speed

For this activity we were asked to create a drawing design of our very own fast vehicle. I've chosen inspiration from a motorbike, and I added my own creative features. We also had to include information like what it's made of, any special features, how fast it goes, and what I would use it for. This activity was a bit hard to think of a new design for a fast vehicle, but it was fun creating the drawing and I really like how it turned out anyway!

Activity 2: Printing Prosthetics

For this activity we looked at a man named Chuck Hull, because he invented the first 3D printer in 1983. When the machine is given a 3D design from online, it will create it in real life by making layers in material like plastic. Now people are using these printers to do all sorts of things. One of them being to help children and adults who need prosthetic hands. We took a closer look at this, by watching a video on how 3D printed prosthetic hands are changing kids' lives. Then we were asked to share one thing we learnt, and one thing that surprised us which my answers are above.

Activity 1: Nanogirl

Tiny houses are really interesting homes, and I'd live in one especially because of all the benefits. It would be easier to take care of and move around in, which places are quicker to get to. Things would definitely be more easier than living in a regular home. It would have just enough storage for essential items, which would make things more simple. I think it would be pretty fun in a tiny house, and better for environment.

For this activity we looked at tiny houses and a company that makes them - "buildtiny". Tiny homes are generally 100 to 400 square feet, and just because it's small doesn't mean it has to be simple too. So after extending our knowledge were asked to share if we would live in a tiny house one day and why/why not. I would live in a tiny house, because life would be simple and easier (above is my full answer).

Activity 3: Belle of the Ball

For this activity, we wrote a short book review of any choice imagining that Emma Watson asked for a good book recommendation to share with her book club that she started. The book I've chose is called "The Best Worst Thing" written by Kathleen Lane. This is an amazing book, and I was really excited to write about it. I would definitely recommend it. Book cover + summary + personal review is all above.

Activity 2: The Right to an Education

For this next Summer Learning Journey activity, we looked at a young woman named Malala Yousafzai. I've heard about her before, and her story is very inspirational. She is a Pakistani activist who wants female education. But she is also a survivor and fighter. Malala survived an assassination attempt, and has since recovered. She lives her life continuing her career, and is currently 22 years young. Malala created a children's book called "Malala's Magical Pen". Inspired by that, our task was to write a short story/narrative about anything. This is a made up story called "The Man on the Moon" about a boy called George and the mysterious far away person on the moon, who he talks to at night. Enjoy!

Activity 1: The Right to Vote

For this activity, we had to imagine the government was going to create a new 10$ note. We had to find another New Zealand women to replace Kate Sheppard with and explain our choice. I chose Kate Edger to be the new face of the 10$, and above is some information about both of them. Kate Edger is a great example of womanhood, just like Kate Sheppard. Kate Edger was the first woman in New Zealand to earn a  university degree. Merry Christmas everyone! I won't be as active through the day as usual, but I hope you have a great day.

Activity 3: Achieving our Dreams

For this activity we asked a friend or family member what their dream job/career is and six ways of how we could support them. I asked my friend Florence to help me out, and her dream of being a photographer is what I used as my example.

Activity 2: Defying the Odds

For this Summer Learning Journey activity we had to imagine we had a chance to interview a basketball player and write 5 questions we would ask him. I chose Russell West-brook, a popular NBA basketball player. I've made a short biography in case you haven't heard about him.

Activity 1: Rugby Superstars

For this activity we looked at a few popular rugby players that are really good at what they do. Being so talented, some people would say they have 'superpowers'. We were to list 3 superpowers that we would have, what they are, why we chose it, and what we would do with them. The three I chose were Telekinesis, Shape-shifting and precognition.

Activity 3: The Columbian Exchange

For the last activity for day 3 of the Summer Learning Journey teaser week activities, we had look at someone who has a significant impact on our life, which is positive. I chose to talk about my Mother because she has changed my life, for better. I've grew up being resilient, discipline, and respectful because of the life lessons she has taught me. She helps me do better everyday, and takes care of me.

Activity 2: When the Rubber Hits the Road

For this activity of the Summer Learning Journey teaser week, we looked at a girl named Marina. She didn't attend school until the age of 16 and she was the first person in her family to earn a degree in university as well. Taking from this, we had to interview 3 people what their proudest accomplishment was. I asked 5 people, which were Florence, Aung Naing, Nyjah, Fui, and Chavda. My biggest Achievement personally was earning my first C.A.R.E Award badge, which was Silver Respect. It meant alot getting my first badge, because I put a lot of effort into the activities and I was proud because I knew I deserved it.

Activity 1: The Rainman of Rajasthan

This was the first teaser week activity for day 3 of the Summer Learning Journey. For this, we worked in small groups and looked at The Water Project. We watched a video, and read the site. We explain what the goal is, what the problem was, and what the organisation has achieved. Then each group presented their DLO's.

Zero Invasive Predators | Activity 1 (Day 3) - Summer Learning Journey | WEEK 4

I liked the Project video of Zero Invasive predators the most because I could understand it better and could see what they were trying to do. ZIP are trying to rescue Native animals and other animals that are decreasing. They are trying to find technology to help save as much animals from predators.

This was Activity 1 for Day 3 of Week 4 for the Summer Learning Journey. For this Activity I had to watch three Predator Free videos and choose which of those videos was the best to me and why. Video 1 was Cacophony Project, Video 2 was Taranaki Mounga Project, and Video 3 was Zero Invasive Predators (ZIP). I decided to go with project video ZIP.

Animal Poster | Activity 3 (Day 3) - Summer Learning Journey | WEEK 3

This was Activity 3 of Day 3 for Week 3 on the Summer Learning Journey. For this Activity I had to make a poster about one of the 10 flying animals in a list provided of choice. I decided to go with Flying Fish. We also had to provide a photo of the animal and include three facts as well as more information on the Flying animal.

My Super-ability (Telepathy Power) | Activity 2 (Day 3) - Summer Learning Journey | WEEK 3

Image result for telepathy

This was Activity 2 for Day 3 of Week 3 for the Summer Learning Journey. For this Activity I had to pick a superpower i'd want to have and why. I would want the super ability of Telepathy. Both being able to get messages from someone elses head and give messages to someone elses head. I'd want this to be able to know what other people are really thinking and find information. I'd also want it because I can play mind games with somebody and give them things to do.

Kōkako Bird | Activity 1 (Day 3) - Summer Learning Journey | WEEK 3

Short Description: These beautiful blue birds are found in species belong to the North and South Islands of New Zealand. Kōkako usually feast on leaves and fruits as their food. These native birds have a blue flap of skin on the side of the mouth called a 'wattle'. The rest of it's body is a blueish Gray color complimenting the making the blue flap pop. Covering their eyes is black mask like patch.

This was Activity 1 of Day 3 for Week 3 on the Summer Learning Journey. For this Activity I had to pick a native bird from the variety on a provided site and write a description about them. The description of the bird had to include what it usually eats, where it usually lives, and also an attributed picture of this bird below the description. The bird I chose was the Kōkako because it was so beautiful and caught my eye scrolling through the site of all the birds.
