Activity 3: Girl Power

For this activity looked at two young female singers, Jessica Mauboy and Dame Kiri Te Kanawa. They are both great role models, being people who have faced challenges and overcome them in order to achieve their dreams. We were then asked to choose one role model whether it is someone we know personally, or from the internet. I decided to create a poster about Beyonce, an American female artist. She has done a lot with her career, and knows how to carry herself. Otherwise I would've chose my mom, because she is a great example of independence and she works hard.

Role Models vs Heros

Our topic for inquiry this term is relationships with others. In this activity we had to define the different between role models and heroes. This was a collaborative task so I had to work with my team group, Fui, Ellenora, Karlos, and Neveah. A role model is someone people look up to as inspiration and ideas. A hero is someone to us that we find special, these people have an effect on us and have some special talent or quality to them. One's hero could even be their dad. We ended up making a Venn Diagram like piece, and explained what both the separate names meant.
