L.I: To correct certain structure and language features in a recount.
This week for writing we looked at paragraph linking in a recount to correct a messed up one that we read. First we had a lesson where we discussed and talked about paragraph structure in a recount and paragraph linking. The recount was titled as "Walking up Mount Fuji" written by our teacher. Then we went away and fixed up recount so that the paragraphs linked up and made sense. We also had to highlight the changes we made so that they were easily visible. To link paragraphs you need to make sure the last sentence relates to the next paragraph.

Sky Tower Recount | Mock Test
L.I: To quickly write a recount using the correct structure and language.
This week for writing we re-created what the writing test coming up is going to be like so that we aren't as pressured in the real one and are used to what it's like. We had to write the recount about the Sky Tower trip that most of us went to, and the others who didn't had to write about something they did in the holidays or at any other time. We first re-capped what we did at the sky tower and the main events so we had an idea on what to write about. Then we went away and had 40 minutes to write the recount. Later on in the week, we went back and looked at the recounts and rated them using a writing Rubic. Then we commented on our writing on the two starting paragraphs on we we should have corrected. My recount is shown above.

Zombies Recount
This week for writing we had to write a recount using the different writing skills we learnt this term. Our recount was about playing a game called "Zombies" on Monday. We first discussed all the writing strategies and skills we learnt throughout the whole term. Then we learnt the instructions before actually playing the "Zombies". Once we understood how to play we went outside and had 5 rounds of the game before coming back inside. Afterwards we used a recount planner to help plan out our recount then wrote it our writing DLO "My Writing Journey". We had to write the recount using all the skills we learnt and putting our learning into practise. You can read my recount above.

Little Boat Recount Commenting
L.I: Identify the features of recount.
This week for writing we looked back on our imaginative recount that we made last week - The Little Boat. We had to look at our recount and try to find 3 Time connectives, 3 First persons, and 3 past tense verbs. Time connectives are like - When, After,Then, Later, Before, First, and etc. First person words are like - Me, I, Myself, She etc. Past tense verbs are like - Soaked, Imagined, Ate, Appeared, Thought, and etc. If we found anyone of these things then we had to highlight it and comment what it was. You can see mine and my comments In my recount for the Time connectives I was able to find these 3 words - Next, then, after. For first person I found these 3 words - She, They and I. For past tense verbs I found these three words - Appeared, Began, and soaked.

The Little Boat Recount
L.I: To plan and write an imaginative recount in the point of view of someone.
This week for writing, we had to watch a video called Little Boat, and then write a recount of the boats point of view/perspective. After watching the video, we needed to go away and write down ideas so then we could look back at it if we needed to later when we are writing the real recount. To write our ideas down, we used a site called coggle. I have used coggle before, it is very easy. It is very helpful in learning for the students to easily brainstorm ideas for anything. We used TREE to write ideas for the recount. TREE stands for Title, Reveal, Events, and Ending. I the DLO above is my recount of the point of view of how the boat might felt and what everything might have seemed to the boat.

5 Sentence Writing Recount
L.I: To write a 5 sentence recount using the main ideas.
Today for writing, Mr Wong's groups went outside and played a game. After we came back inside the class, we had to write a 5 sentence recount of what we did. We had to include the main parts of a recount - The Reveal, events, and the ending/how you felt but keep it short. For each part of the things, we had to write only a sentence. You can see my 5 sentence recount above.

Kiwi Can Recount Writing
Kiwi Can
This week wednesday the class and I had kiwi can with miss latoya and mr malu. The topic for kiwi can this week was respect. Firstly we played a few warm up activities before we got to anything else.
This activity included a ball. For the first game we had to split into 2 groups so mr malu numbered each and everyone one of us either 1 or 2. I was in group 2. From our group we had to get into a pair, my pair was Sakina. We had to stay in a straight line behind the cone with our groups and wait for further instructions. This was a race between both groups and the first pair in the front of the lane had to face the opposite direction of each other so one faced to the left and the other faced to the right then a ball was put in between each others backs and we had to make it to the end of the cones and back to where we started. Once each pair had a turn you were done. My pair and I found it quite difficult. Although the ball kept dropping we still tried but we weren’t able to make it to the end and back.
With the next game we did we still had to stay in our groups and our pairs like the last game but this time instead we had to face forward and try and make it across to the end and back with the ball between your buddies and your legs. Sakina and I found a strategy that helped us and it was to put our hand over each others shoulder so we could try and stay together. We also tried to keep rhythm with each other and make sure we were in time with each other with every step. We were so close to the finish line but the ball sadly dropped. I think it was because we got to excited and weren’t able to focus. I really enjoyed playing both of the activities.
After the 2 activities we went inside the class and talked about what we think we are. There were only 3 options and a cone for that option so we could go to it. We had to go to either the sports cone, communication cone or the dancing/performing cone. I decided to go to the sports cone. The people in each group had to talk about why they think they are good at that topic or why they like that topic. I like sports because I think I have the energy for it and I like to give it a try or even try new things.
Then after each group gave their reasons of why they like or are good at the topic we split into groups again. This time it was to see which group we went to depending on what we think. The first group was if you liked to work things out in your brain and such then the second group was if you didn’t like to work things out in your brain and such like that. If we decided we are the first group we went to Mr Malu and if we decided we were group 2 we went to miss latoya. I chose to go to group 2, mrs latoya's group. I think I was a bit in between the two but I still went to group 2. Miss Latoya and Mr Malu changed it up, instead of group two doing something that didn’t include using our brains to work it out we had to play 4 pics and 1 word which was a game we did have to use our brains and try and figure out using the 4 pictures that were shown a word. The 4 pictures had to be based off the word itself. We had 3 rounds of this. I think my team did a pretty good job because we got all of them right! On the other hand group 1 were exercising and doing physical things until the bell rang and it was time to say goodbye to Mr Malu and Miss latoya and head off back to class. I think it was super fun, I had a great time and enjoyed my time there.
L.I: To revise Recount writing
This week for writing we did another practise of the 40 minute recount writing. This time the topic was kiwi sport - badminton, but I missed out on it so I chose to write about kiwi can. We were shown all the 7 things teachers look for in our piece of writing or recount and TREE. T stands for title, R stands for reveal, E stands for events and the last E stands for ending. I tried my best to include all those things and try to make it better than my last one. After the time went off we had to stop writing because we were practising for the real test next week and so we know what to do and are used to it. Then we tried rating our own recounts properly. After counting all the ratings I did for myself it all totalled up to 34. The number I had to be at at least was 27 and I passed that number.

The PBS production - Recount
L.I: To create a recount and mark it myself.
For writing we had to create a recount for only 40 minutes to practise what it would be like and how the teachers mark it because testing is coming up soon. We all got the same topic because we were all there and it was the PBS dance production we had. We first planned what we might write about on a white board in our writing groups then separated apart and wrote our stories. When I finished but still had a little more time, I went over it and made sure it made sense and I had the things I wanted to put in the story. We were just practising a little about recounts and TREE but for the writing way. Then we looked at each others stories from in our writing group and marked it on the sheet that the teachers would actual mark it on. Then we swapped the groups around to see some other groups story and mark it in our opinion. My group marked fui's because fui was chosen out of one of the groups and the person chosen from our group was jack. Lastly after that mr O actually marked it of how it would have been marked. I think we were close but we were just off by 4.

Goldilocks And The Three Bears
One Extraordinary Day
One spring morning, I woke up and got out of bed to the smell of mama bear’s delicious Honey bunny Porridge. I raced to the kitchen, then saw Papa bear and Mama bear with their bowls full of porridge in front of them. I rushed to my seat and grabbed my spoon and then took my first bite, but burnt my tongue. It was just too hot to digest I had to spit it out. I suggested that we could go for a walk to the Rainbow WaterFall so it would have some time to cool. Mama bear and Papa bear said,” That’s a great idea!” so we packed and left our cottage on the way to the waterfall.
We had remember where to go because we had visited the waterfall before. We entered the forest on the way to our destination. Minutes later we had finally arrived at the waterfall and I dived in! While Papa bear grabbed his fishing hook and threw it in, Mama bear set out the picnic sheet on the grass then laid down while watching us. Later on papa bear thought he had caught enough fish for the day so I hopped out, and got changed into my spare clothes. A couple minutes later we had started to head back home.
We were out of the forest and had reached home. As Mama Bear opened the door she realised the lock was on the floor. “Did someone leave the door unlocked?” Mama Bear questioned with suspicion. With a confused look on my face I said “no”, Papa bear picked up the lock while raising an eyebrow. Mama bear slowly opened the door, then walked inside. She saw the bowls of porridge! Her bowl of porridge and Papa Bear’s bowl of porridge had some missing. When I looked into my bowl, everything was gone! I was upset, and angry because I was really looking forward to eat my porridge.
I stomped my way to the living room so I could calm down in my comfy chair. It was broken into pieces! I cried to papa bear and mama bear to come in the living room. They were in shock! Not only my chair was sat on and broken, their chair had been sat on too. They attempted to fix my chair but they gave up. A couple minutes later Papa bear said he heard a noise coming from upstairs.
So he walked up the stairs. I gulped as Mama took a deep breath and we went along with him. We’d reached the top and Mama bear pushed the door open. I looked at papa bear’s bed, his blanket was and his mattress had a slight dent in it. Mama bear’s too! I looked at my bed in fright, there was someone in my bed! I was gonna tell Mama bear and Papa bear, but it looked like they already knew from the look on their face.
They stomped their way to my bed and threw the covers off, then growled as loud as they possible could. I opened the window as the intruder woke up. Mama bear and Papa bear grab her out of the bed, as she struggled to get out. Then they chucked her out the window without a flinch and tell them “Never come back!” She ran in fear for her life, then the next minute she had disappeared.
