Kiwi Sport
This week Thursday, we had kiwi sport with coach Kevin in the hall. We learnt more about badminton, did some tricks/skills and played some rallys and games. First we played octopus. The starting taggers were Matthew and Raera. If you were tagged by one of them, then you had to stay there and try to tag someone if they pass by you, but you couldn't move. The last two people that hadn't got out were then the new taggers. We played a few rounds of octopus then moved on to the next thing. For this next thing we learnt a new skill. It was the forehand lift. To do the forehand lift you need to hold your racket in forehand grip because it is in the name. You had have your racket foot in front and your shuttle foot behind. You also need to extend your hand out then hit the shuttle when it is thrown to you. We had to practise doing this in pairs so we got into pairs and got rackets for the both of us and one shuttle to share. Each person had to do it 5 times before swapping so the other person could try it. Then we played rallys using the badminton net and this time was only a 1 on 1 so only one person would play and another person on the other side. We got into groups of 8 and went to one of the three courts. We practised doing a forehand serve and sometimes, a forehand lift. If one person got out, the next person would come. After this we sat back down on the hall floor and recapped on what we did before going back to class.
