Wellington Fire station Visit

This week Tuesday the seniors went on a fire station visit. We went to the Wellington fire station and were introduced to 4 of the fire fighter there. At first there is a crew of 4 at the fire station then they swap with a different crew later on. We were able to ask them a few questions before we went outside of the fire station building so one of the crew members could show us how a fire fighters dresses. I now know, that everything they wear weighs to about 25kgs. They also told what everything they wear is, why there where it and how it works. Next they showed us parts of the fire truck and whats on it. Basically the fire truck is a big tool boxes that holds all the thing they need for an emergency. They also showed us the pump panel and there fire truck hose. They picked 4 people from the class to spray the hose and Mr Ogilvie was able to spray the bigger fire hose because it was more difficult to handle for the children. I think we all learnt something at the Wellington fire station and enjoyed the trip very much.
